The Terrible Trio - Herk-A-Birthday!!

Since I am finding it more and more difficult to keep updating 4-5 threads, I have decided to start a new one that captures the antics and pics of ALL of my dragons...Nero, Dude, Sweetie-Boo, Calliope and Hercules.

From now on I will be updating this thread... and every day is an adventure here in Beardie-Land

I hope that everyone will continue to follow the lives of my babies.

Waves from the Beardie Bunch

Robin

EDIT ** For whatever reason Photobucket is not transfering my pictures :banghead: (and I have some good ones, too :angry5: ) I will try again in the morning.

Oh and Robin, you are not alone on the shopping thing... I can buy groceries, and seeds for the garden, clothes and stuff for the human boys, roaches for the reptile boys, but for me ??? I guess I missed out on the girl training there... Must have been out hunting bugs or something...

Of course not Barbara  I was actually trying to salvage what's left of my own sanity by compiling eveything together in one place.

BTW... with everything you have going on right now with babies and all, are you still going to be able to make it to the show in Anaheim? please say yes, please say yes.

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the Herky's bath video. I'll have to get one of him trying to climb out of the sink. His little legs go a mile a minute. I was finally able to weigh and measure him yesterday (remember..OCD won't allow me to do it prior  ) and he is 6 inches long and weigh 8 grams. But he is only 6 weeks old...

Miss Calliope was the big winner for the week. 11 grams in one week  At the rate she's going, Nero will have to learn how to do some sweet-talkin' or else she will kick his beardie butt in a couple of years come breeding time:lol:

I think Dude is working on yet another shed. He so needs to get rid of all of that nasty crap. But he just seems so sad... he perks up a little bit when I talk to him (he gets the super special baby voice) but he is just being kinda lazy. I feel bad only feeding him his beloved worms only every other day (I feel like I'm depriving him), but since is an adult, I don't want to jeopardize his health. And the vet said he would be fine on the limited protein schdule now. I still feel guilty though. On the days that he can't have any, he watches me like a hawk while I'm putting all of the others' worm bowls together. Then I get this look like "Today Mom??". So so sad.

Sweetie-Boo seems to want to go to sleep earlier than normal. Usually about an hour after being fed which is about an hour before lights out. She is only 9 months old, so she can't be wanting to brumate yet :dontknow:

Nero is DEFINATELY getting ready to shed. The current pattern makes it look like he has shoulder pads (obviously someone forgot to mention to him that those are SOOOOO '80's). Doesn't really want to be petted which breaks my heart, but I can't take it personal. Shed = grumpy :(

I was just telling hubby that I wish that they weren't such territorial creatures. I would love to be able to let them all out at once (minus the babies of course) so they could run around on the floor. When I let them out one at a time, I don't feel like I'm giving them enough time. Oh well... the trials and tribulations of beardie parenting. What are you gonna do??

I agree it would be easier if everyone of same size could be out at one time...sure would free up some of my day too...but I'm afraid to even let my females out together. I look at pic's where members have posted all of their Subadult to Adult beardies in the bath at one time an trip because I couldn't get away with that.

I want to go more than anything and we are going to try our very best. I'll have to let you know for sure and what day we would be going as it gets closer. Just hope that the next clutch doesn't decide to start hatching that weekend that would mess things up. We aren't going to beable to go for the entire weekend like we did the past 2 years it will have to just be a day trip this time. I'll keep you posted!

You know, we got Nero a hammock for his birthday and in the whole week since he has had it, the only time he has been in it is when I put him there. More often than not he likes to sit under it like it's an umbrella  (Not raining dorky dragon  ). Anyway, last night I gave him a late bath because he hadn't pooped... he pooped and then spent some time under the basking light I have set up for them upstairs for after bath. So he got warm and was dry and I put him back in his viv (lights were out already) and told him 'night, night'. After I settled in to watch a little boob tube, I heard him rustling around and I looked over at his viv and he was actually hauling his fat butt up into the hammock :blob5:  :blob8:

He is soooooo grumpy (and crunchy) because he is shedding. I just want to cuddle him, but he keeps 'spiking' me. WAAAAAAAAAA!

Little Herky is shedding too :blob5: GROWING!! That is a huge relief to me considering all of the issues we had with itty bitty Hades :(

I have some new pics... I'll try to post them later.

Nero, your hammock is there for your comfort, take advantage!

Go Hercules! Grow Grow Grow!

Poor Twitch's hammock keeps falling down. I never see it happen. What do I need to do to make it stay up? Wetting the suction cups works for a week or so but then it falls again...

I'm not sure how to get them to stick. Since our enclosures are made of wood, hubby actually nailed the corners into the sides. Honestly, I think if we had to use the suction cups, Nero would not be able to use the hammock...he may be too big for it now. But he looks sooooo cute in it.

Hey Robin, you do know that the Brady bunch had 6 kids right? So I think you need one more to be the beardie bunch .

They are looking great Robin! You just wait, Hercules will be one big dragon!

Take care,

Anthony
Thanks for stopping in Anthony  Hercules is thriving so well. He's almost gotten to the point where he will literally leap off of his stick when it's "meat" time. Just like Calliope  I really do think SHE thinks she can fly. I am convinced she recognizes her worm bowl.

By stopping in, you have now given me yet another opportunity to thank you and let you know how grateful I am that you sent little Herky to me. He has the best personality and really settled in nicely. I know you are super busy, but try not to be a stranger

He just shed so here are some pictures I took of before and after
Yesterday right before bath time... little blue dot... now you see it...
005-2.jpg

Now you don't... he finished his shed about an hour before I took these pictures
012-1.jpg

013-1.jpg

As usual the pictures do not do his coloring any justice. He is BRIGHT orange, and with the red from his daddy, he is just awesome to look at :love10:

Here is my grumpy, crunchy Nero pre-bath
006-1.jpg

He did get rid of some of it in his bath tonight, but the stuff on his belly is still VERY attached. Poor baby :(
Since it completely fascinates me when their spikes shed, I thought I would include a pic of the shed that came off this evening so that any new beardie owners who have yet to experience this can see just how cool it is
008.jpg

I can't decide which is cooler... spike shed or the little "gloves" when they shed their feet
And have you ever seen such a lazy pancake??
007.jpg

And my last pics for the evening is of Miss Calliope. If you look closely you can see the beginnings of her "double" chin. I'd say she is filling out nicely
011-2.jpg

And check out the nice white belly right out of the bath
001-2.jpg

Have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE my beardies???

AHHHHHH Sara...this I do know.

Actually I have future plans of purchasing one from Tom. Hubby will have to build another enclosure and I want to be sure that all of my current dragons are well on their way to adulthood.

Hehe, they are so addicting. I had Lilly for about a day before thinking "I want another!". Of course, I know once classes begin (8 days... argh) I will struggle to find time for the animals I already have, so I will just have to live vicariously, seeing everyone else with beautiful babies. My brother asked me who to buy a bearded dragon from and Tom was my first thought, but seeing as he's 14, I don't know how he would afford a beardie.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
