The tails of Chimaira the Dragon*Shoo go away*

Hello everyone!

I wanted to make one place to post all his crazy adventures! He seams to have them daily (or several times a day) And pictures my daughter loves to take.

Basic story of the mighty Chimera....

My daughers boyfriend took her to a pet store one day and they went to the reptile section and seen the baby beardies she fell in love with the biggest one in the tank. I think once she had him in her little hands it was allll over! I got a phone call telling me she had a suprize for us when she got home. I never in my wildest dreams think it would be something live! Boy was it a learning experance since then. Trying to tell a 15 yr old no you cant hold him after eating you have to wait. Shes lost him at least 4 times one time it took us a hour before we found him. :shock: She fed him 12 mealworms in one sitting because he was so cute eating them out of her hand! Can we say impaction?? (pet store told them it was a safe and better meal than crickets) After that I took over feedings. I found this site! You guys have givin us so much information that I'm sure he wouldnt be as healthy as he is now, with out it! Thank you all! He has a wonderful personality! <-- thats him. hes so happy and courious about everything and anything. He loves to explore he has a wonderful smile too! Hes my partner in crime when everyones gone to work/school. Hes just like one of my children.

He is soo cute. I have a similar situation. My 15yr old boy decided he needed a new pet. But who feeds and bathes and holds him all the time. Can't help ourselves I guess. They are so adorable and just want to be loved! This site is soo much better than any other source for beardie information that I have found. When we brought him home from the store I thought we were ready but we knew almost nothing. Thank God for BD.org

I see the curiosity in his eyes in the first pic. He's adorable. Both of us noticed the coloring around his eyes are just like Redrocks eyes. He's very beautiful. I understand why you fell for him. Just be careful. Beardies are like Lays potato chips. No one can have just one.

I'm almost at that point already! And I've only had my dragon for about 2 months! I thought I was ready for the way he'd worm himself into my heart, but I most certainly wasn't. He had me enslaved that first day home when he crawled up to my shoulder and fell asleep.

Boy hes in a mood today I had to put him back in his viv since he decided he didnt want to stay put and jumped for it hes like a BD on crack!

He didnt enjoy his bath today to much noise from the construction going on in the house, thank goodness they will be finished today!

His head looks all funny hes getting ready to shead his little noggin hes a funny sheader he sheads his legs first then his head then his tail then his body so he looks all crazy for the longest time lol

Todays not a good day for Chimera i guess all the excitement from the construction has him a little stressed They finally finished and are packing up their things then it will be back to a nice quiet warm home again. Since the house is in the low 60s i didnt want to keep him out of his viv like normal during the day. So hes mad at me cause hes been trapped in his cell like a prisoner... :roll: Im sure he will be back to his normal self soon.

Well we took him outside for almost 2 full hours in the hot sun , even took his bath outside anything to try and cheer him up.

As we're moving all the stuff back from one room to another he decided he was gonna take a nap.
sshhh im trying to go to sleep!

We had a slight accident with his tank so (dont beat me) this is his temp tank intill we can get a replacement
I know i know a 10gal tank is small , tg hes out of it most of the time! (hes only as long as the big rock on top so he has alot of room)we have a 40gal wide or a 50 gal wide in mind. just gotta wait another week , gah now we gotta replace his tank and his UVB whats next!

Two hours in the hot sun? OK-I'm jealous, and I'm not even in the snow belt. Where are you, Australia? If so color me green with envy. :mrgreen: You are warm and in one of the world's neatest spots.
I love the picture of him sleeping under the carpet(?). He found a nice cave. Sorry about your viv. ARRG, that can get expensive. So why not take advantage of the situation and build him a nice big home. Maybe it could be a bonding thing for you and your daughter. :lol: My 8 yr old DD and 4 yr old son have helped me with mine. (and folks wonder why I'm not finished yet) :lol:

Anyway, cool dragon, he sounds like fun.

We are in California and we had a freak day today of nice warm weather in the sun it was hot! After the house being like a icebox the last 4 days i was glad to be outside! Oh thats my desk placemat he loves to crawl under it and go to sleep , hes spoiled rotten. i started him on that when he first came home thats about the only way he can sleep now. I want to get him one of those log caves i see everyone using they would be perfect!

Why spend extra money? If he loves the placemat, go with it. Unless of course you need it back.

Heres to Chimera!!! :notworthy: May he live a long and happy life on this Earth!! Yep he does look like he is going to shed. Building a tank is also a great idea, but if its not for you thats fine. I've gone both ways I've built a tank and bought one. Building is cheaper, but takes more time (and I hope you have powertools, cause I didn't and my wrist still hurts from trying to screw the wood screws in with my bare hands). I am a firm beleiver that Beardies have there own mood swings just like anyone else.

I wish we could have the fun of building a cage we have no tools at all. Im not really a handly woman type I'll let him borrow my placemat intill he gets a little bit bigger. Thank goodness he stopped pooing on it!I

This is my daughters Western Fence lizard she rescued. We are waiting till it warms up again to set him free. Hes sheading so his blue isnt bright.

Heres Chimera in his tank basking on the nice warm rocks... he looks at me , his look says %&%$ for breaking my cool pad!

He for some reason loves to streach out and let his legs dangle off of everything.

Hes 5 months 3 weeks , its a 10 gal old fish tank we had.
