well. we decided to see another person, this person is a specialized herpetologist and an old family friend. he is in charge of reptiles at a LARGE theme park in florida. we made the couple hour drive up there and he did a loooong and thorough exam, including xrays, blood, and finally he got my little guy to poop while he was there so it was fresh. once on the slide he instantly informed us if Coccidia were worth any money we would be rich. he said it was so bad he wanted to treat him personally and get him out of this. so now we know why he has been like this.

what really pisses me off is how on earth (and he agrees with me) the other vets missed this? he basically flat out said if they really actually checked the stool samples (which he thinks they either didnt or otherwise he said he they are just plain *****) there is not a chance in hell they could have missed this as bad as it is. he said honestly he doesnt know how my little guy is still alive its so bad. he figures the only way he is alive is because of the extra work we put in with him, force feeding him, extra liquid vitamins, bene pac etc etc etc just everything combined, he said as bad as it is usually they dont make it.

so 4 other vets we saw couldnt find this??? i seriously dont know whats wrong with people. and one of those vets is an old friend which is worse.

so he is on a higher than normal does of albon, critical care, liquid calcium, probiotics, and additional vitamins. i miss him already and can pick him up tomm if i feel okay with giving him all that stuff ourselves. but he said the improvement so far is HUGE. he said just in these few days he looks drastically better!!! he even ate something for the first time in weeks for him!!

we are to keep him on albon and the rest for 2 weeks total and the retest.

Wow, that's fortunate that you finally got a diagnosis. Not sure why the others missed it but you deserve a refund from the others who didn't catch it if it's that bad. Maybe they had lab techs working that just messed up or even misplaced the slides. You never can tell with medical practices, human or animal. :shock:

I imagine that you're glad to hear the update. I wonder why your vet oisn't using Ponazuril or Toltrazuril though rather than Albon. They usually work in 2-3 doses rather than 2 weeks.

we also have that, he wants to do 2 weeks of albon then 3 days on the other, wait 2 weeks then another 3 days, he said from him being sick so long he wants to rule out any other things that "could be" going on.
