Our male beardie, who is almost 4 years old, seems to be very hormonal. He keeps black bearding, waving and bobbing very frequently :? We have a juvie female, but they cannot see each other and their cages are located one on top of the other. I guess my question is, can the males sense the presence of a female or does he just feel a need to breed :?:

Im sure its a pheremone type thing. He cant see her but knows shes in the area. So he is reacting. In time he will mellow. Maybe..lol

I had the same problem. I have a 1 year old male and got a Female baby from Tom and he started going nuts. Pacing back and forth, head bobbing, black bearding, and being all male like lol. After a few weeks he stopped.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
