I did something extremely stupid on the weekend and paid the price for it big-time! Malys has been so hyper lately i can barely keep a hold of her...she's never been this active (2.5yrs). Everytime I take her outside she always finds insects and she almost had a june bug on the weekend. I've been trying to just keep her on me outside but she fights me.

Anyways, had her on the deck on the weekend and of course she found a huge ant and ate it. I've been so frustrated trying to keep her from eating random insects but she always finds them and runs for them. I picked her up right away and she kept her mouth open, i could see the bug sitting on her tongue and in the split second i had to think about it my finger was in there trying to fish out the insect. :banghead:

So, i was on here using the search to find threads on bites and most of them say that dragon bites don't hurt. I just want to insert my 2cents here and say that it was the worst pain i've felt in a long time! She made it thru my fingernail and quite deep into the other side of my finger. No stitches, it stopped bleeding fairly quickly. Although, i suppose most bites from dragons are accidental and probably are only nips. I can't even really call this a dragon bite, as she didn't really bite me ...from her perspective it was a human finger invasion of the mouth LOL! And i was more worried about her after it happened, i had to shake her off my finger to get her to let go but she seems fine.

 ROFL!!! That reminds me of the time I tried to get a button out of my daughters mouth while she was teething. Babies hurt too! LOL.

Oh no no no, it's baby beardie bites that doesn't hurt
I'd been bitten by an adult beardie once, of course by accident, and it hurt ALOT! Not only did it break skin, but it bled and stung like h-e-double hockey sticks.

So, after all that, were you able to get the ant before Malys swallowed it?

Bob bit me once, and it hurt like heck! He managed to shatter my fingernail at the base and left a nasty gash on the other side of my finger too. This was months ago, and the shattered portion of my fingernail is only just now growing out. And I agree - it was some of the worst pain I've ever felt.

OUCH! Sounds like i'm not alone :) No, i didn't get the ant after all that...my mind went blank with pain.

so i think the general agreement is to keep our fingers out of mouths that don't belong to us LOL!!!

I got bit by Grim a few months back on the side of my thumb. He took a chunck out. Mistook me for a worm (sigh). I could tell he felt bad. I got extra snuggles. The things we do for these guys.

None of our dragons ever bite but we had Chimaira our big girl out in the grass and we have rock beds all around it she ran in the rocks looked down and grabbed a small one my hubby stuck his fingers in there to try and keep her from eating it. He was lucky he didnt bleed but he had one heck of a bruse on both sides of a few of his fingers cause she chomped them a few times. I told him just let her have it we will just pray it comes out. Ive only been pinched by a foster beardie adult and it stung gave me blood blisters.

It's funny how we think we can just fish things out of their mouth that we don't want them to eat. Yes, there is a price to pay for intentionally sticking your finger in a dragons mouth. LOL Been there when I tried to fish a piece of bark Scorch got ahold of. She was only 8mo old at the time so it just pinched and there was no blood. Hope your poor finger feels better soon.

i have never personaly been bit by max but one day my mom was holding him and i showed her how i taught him to opem his mouth if you rub one side.makes giving medication easy. anyways my mom did it to see maxs teeth and then he openned his mouth so she kept it up and he chomped her finger . she said it felt like a hammer hitting her finger no blood but it taught her a lesson not to irritate him. he felt bad and snuggled with her afterwards ,max has bever bit methough came close by me hand feeding him meal worms but he dint mean to

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
