(Before anyone asks: Yes, I did get permission to post this.)

As some of you may have read, I recently rescued a severely neglected dragon. She had no name at all when I got her, but I have begun calling her Goldie because of the lovely yellow colors that appeared on her face and legs starting with her first exposure to real sunlight (and later a UVB bulb.) The previous 'owners' claim to have had her for over a year, so my best estimate is that she is about a year and a half old. Here is one of the photos from the original Craigslist ad.

Here she is an hour or so after I brought her home and had given her both a sunlight bath and a warm-water bath, then some UVB-lamp time.

She had been kept in a tank that I would estimate is perhaps 30 gallons. Not as small as some, but the substrate was sand or some kind of corn meal-ish stuff... couldn't tell, but something awful in any event. Other than poop and sand/whatever, the only thing in the cage was a half-log-type hide. That's IT. She was fed crickets very rarely -- I have no idea how often, but she's too emaciated to have been fed more than once every couple of weeks at most, as if she were a snake! :banghead:

She had NO UVB WHATSOEVER. Just a heat lamp, with a frosted bulb no less!

In short, when she first arrived with me on 12/13, she was completely emaciated, severely dehydrated, and showing symptoms of moderate MBD. After five days she has begun to gain weight and she has a vet appointment tomorrow, but she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, and caring for her has more than exhausted my already limited resources. My bank account is tapped out and I've already gone to all the payday loan places in the area that will work with me.

So I put together a donation fund for Goldie so that she can get the care she needs. I am hoping to give her a forever home, but at very minimum I do not intend to rehome her until she has fully recovered.

If you would like to help me take care of Goldie, you have four options.

1.) For those with similarly tight budgets, a donation of your love, well-wishes, thoughts, and prayers is valued EQUALLY to any donation of funds or materials. :) I absolutely mean that, by the way; I'm NOT just saying that. I have studied quantum physics, and all the world's major religions; thus, I know that both science and all religions have one thing in common, and this is that they all teach that every part of reality is interconnected to every other part, and that our thoughts have the power to change physical reality. As such, I truly believe that every time someone thinks positively about Goldie, or imagines her healthy and strong in the future, that this is another nudge toward making that future actually happen, and those mental nudges are needed JUST as much as money and materials to make that happen!

2.) Naturally, financial donations are very helpful. If you would like to send money, use the PayPal address [email protected]. Even one dollar helps -- they all add up! :)

3.) I am also in need of certain materials and equipment. In particular I really need a cage for Goldie. So far she has been more or less free range and relying on my out of cage basking area because the cage she came in is too small. I also need some liquid serrapeptase.. for some strange reason I'm having a hard time finding it. If anyone has any supplies, equipment, or materials that they think would be useful for Goldie, PM me! I will provide my address so you can mail them.

4.) If you are a Facebook user, Goldie has a Facebook page which you can Like and Share to spread the word to other people who may be interested in, if nothing else, following Goldie's recovery progress. :) I am posting photos and information about her and how the money from the fund is being used on a semi-daily basis. This is the URL for the Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/GoldiesFund
4a.) Even if you are not a Facebook user, you may be able to spread the word to people who may be interested in and able to help. Please do! Anything and everything helps, including prayers and well-wishes from people Goldie and I will never meet or speak to, even through the Internet.

Thank you all very much for reading this and I apologize for imposing. I just couldn't think of any other way to 100% assure that Goldie gets the care she will need. I will post updates, accounting information (that is, data on how the money in the fund is being spent, so you all know precisely how I am using your generously given resources), and progress reports on Goldie's recovery here as well as on Facebook for the convenience of people who are not FB users.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
