I have the Bearded Dragon manual, it is a bit older, but it is written by the top breeder in the world [ if wer'e talking about the same book ] Robert Mailloux is reknowned as the person responsible for most, if not all of the high color dragons in the trade today. That's a fact that newer breeders may not be aware of, and is pretty much undisputed . Co -author Phillipe De Vosjoli is also a beardie expert, he was the founder and President of Vivarium magazine [ no longer printed, I believe] which featured articles, such as in the 1996 edition, featuring a bearded dragon special. Those articles and the book [ Bearded Dragon manual] don't feature the trans and leatherback morphs....those morphs were not in circulation in any number or owned by many people at that time and weren't being bred, and I believe that the trans. morphs came from Sandfire [ Mailloux's ] stock later anyway. But the book itself is a good book, and there is a section dealing with health problems, and the correct method of brumation. They have a section on substrates in which he says his dragons have no problem on sand, so he says it's up to each person to decide about using it. So there are more up to date books out there, especially regarding newer morphs, but the Bearded Dragon Manual [ If that's the one mentioned here] still has some good info, and the author is the top breeder that got the high color dragon industry started in the U.S and most of the world. EDIT....Mailloux is the a co-author with De Vosjoli, not the other way around. Also Susan Donoghue,V.M.D.,Roger Klingenberg, D.V.M. and Jerry Cole.
