Who he was named after though my Kadaj is sweeter and more adorable^^^
The short version of how we got him is we were in Petsmart looking for fancy refrigerated after learning the horrors that could lurk in the canned kind and we fell in love with a little beardie who seemed to really like us, going nuts in his cage trying to get to us. So much research and a week later, we brought him home. What inspired us to give him his name is I seen posts somewhere of a person naming their beardie Genesis(name of another FF7 character) and the name Kadaj popped into our heads and just stuck there(not to mention the FF7 character has lovely emerald lizard eyes)
Coming from the store to my mom's for 2 days, he showed a little stress, but he got over it as soon as he had a warm tank and a few crickets in his tummy. My mom loves lizards though she hates to admit it(She was married to my dad, a herpetologist for 25 yrs and has owned MANY reptiles though in older age she pretends she dislikes them) She acted like she was mad at us for getting him and called him a little stick-tight(like what gets on your clothes in the woods) because he was being impish and decided to jump on her ponytail hanging on for dear life. But soon was babying him when our backs were turned. She did get mad when he had his first bath because he pooped in her bathroom sink after the water drained
As soon as we got to our house, he seems much more comfortable and adjusted being here, especially in his "big boy tank" as we call it since we have the issues with light and heat solved for the time being . Though it is embarrassing for anyone to see. Black electrical tape is holding up his background and the newspaper substrate is a sight for sore eyes. Next month we are considering: Exo-Terra Sand Mat if it is safe for him(If not, reptile carpet), a lizard hammock, and a better water dish that does not tip/spill everywhere because it's meant be buried in sand or soil to become a miniature pond. Maybe a screen cover, and mini vines to make it fun for him. Oh yeah, and an Exo-Terra background that is not so ugly.
He stopped getting scared during baths when I started bathing him in a cube meant for a Betta fish. One thing he has not adjusted to is Justin. Anyone have ideas where Justin could bond with him better? More pics will come during his cuteness and growth. His head is starting to look pale/ashy so hopefully it is a sign of growth.
