Hey, Its been awhile since I posted and now I have a new question...

Jade has gotten bigger, her arms have the 'popeye' look to them, and her thighs have gotten plump.
:D :D :D

I wondering if I can introduce Jade to Golly now??? Ive had her for 8 months, been feeding her none stop, baths, electrolytes, etc...

I dont want a clutch of eggs, but when I have one of them out, they always seem to go to the others cage to 'visit' the other and they do the head bob, arm waving dance... I feel slightly guilty for denying them natures calling when just a 1/8" sheet of plexi glass separates them.

What do you all think??? Can I let them meet and see what happens, or should I keep them apart and just deal with the 'star crossed lovers' effect?

Thanks...

If they were mine, I'd deny them nature's calling. I have 1 female and 2 males. The smaller boy goes for the girl instantly when they're out together. The other boy seemed to ignore her. Until yesterday. He started making a beeline seemingly to go right past her. Then he turned and ran right towards her. Cissy does not have much use of her limbs, so I always keep her close. I was able to pick her up before Fred got to her. I believe he probably would have been gentler with her then Buster, who is a little ruffian. I didn't want to find out, though.

I'm very glad that Jade is doing so well. She is so fortunate that you took her home. :D

Golly is soooo life less these days and the only time he perks up is when he can see Jade... Kind of like hes heart broken or something.

Shes active as hell though, so I dont fear for her safety any more - I just dont want her to get hurt cause hes still so much bigger then she is... :?

Poor Golly. You should do what you think is right for your dragons. You know them best. Just remember they can be very fast and sneaky.

And, really, they're playing the mating dance with their actions. Beardie sex takes a few seconds, literally, and no matter how fast you are, he can jump on her & do the deed before you're even able to move her. So I'd let them continue visiting through their tanks. Even though Jade has done so very well, you'd hate her to carry fertile eggs. Golly is probably a bit down because he's not allowed to mate like he'd like to  But the decision is yours, not ours, that's just my opinion.

Im not wanting eggs or to stress out Jade any more than I have too... So, Im likely not going to let them physically meet, but just let them 'prison talk'. Can beardies 'smell' or sense a female nearby ???

Ive been wondering that cause since we got Jade, Golly is more lethargic than normal - Im thinking hes depressed cause he cant mate with the female...

Thanks for the advice!!! It confirmed my fears so Im glad I asked for help before I did anything.

Yes, males can smell females up to a mile away, at least in the wild, so at home the smell would be strong. I know, that even though, when I had females, they were in a separate room and the males would go nuts every spring trying to get out of their tank to mate with them. Now that my girls are passed away, I only have males, so not as much going nuts during spring. They still go nuts when they can see each other, but that's because they want to fight

Well thats just not cool then... I have Golly's viv on top of Jades, so all of her smells are literally floating to him - no wonder he seems so depressed!

Hmmm... I think when I move, I will let them meet in the new place so I can keep an eye on them easier. My current place is too small/cramped for me to let them roam around too much unattended...

Perhaps if you put them in different rooms in the new place, Golly would get a little relief and perk up?

Not sure where to put them if in different rooms... I know they are social critters, so I have them in the living room where they can see us and we can see them, talk to them, etc. all the time... putting on in a room where we seldom are would be very maddening for me - I dont know how well the dragon would react to that. :?

I think I may have to do that, or put their homes at different areas so the smell(s) arent sooo strong on Golly... I think that may be the best idea.

Yes, it would be hard to put one in a room that you were seldom in. I'm sure you'll figure something out. That might not be what is bugging Golly, after all. Don't you just wish they could talk?

A few of my boys have been in a slump lately, too, and I don't have any females in the house. It's really maddening when we want to get them to perk up but we don't know how. Poor Golly!

And I agree, they would be miserable if they couldn't see you guys all the time, they're very social with humans, just not so social with each other

I noticed with your signature, that your one dragon (Didi) has face similar to my dragons... what causes that??? The dragons at Pet Smart near me dont have that look - is that something that happens with age, a 'morph' thing, or something else??? It sort of concerns me cause I know with humans we do that when we dont have enough moisture or food...

But yes, they are sooo social with humans! Its great! I wish they were social with each other, it would make life sooo much easier!

Didi has been the same since I fostered him in 2010, he was really skinny then, so I've fattened him up but I also give him a 20 min bath every 2nd day and give him water then, too, to prevent dehydration. You're right, though, he & Rubio (my big boy) have always had more issues with dehydration than the rest of them, I think because of their light colours. Didi is a bright orange/yellow with bits of red. Rubio is yellow. I do try to give them baths more often when I can, like on the weekends when I have more time. I've never thought he had an odd face, he's just Didi. But yes, his & Rubio's urates do get harder than the rest of them, even though only Titan gets a bath daily, because he poops daily. Maybe that picture doesn't show him to his best advantage, so here's a better picture of him and Rubio.
Didi

Rubio

I'm going to go back to your pics to see if there's any resemblance.

And I also give them Electrolytes liquid twice a week to help keep them hydrated.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
