About a week ago I brought home my new little buddy and stumbles on this site just tonight and thought it wouldn't hurt to join in. Dovakhiin is my approximately 8 week old baby dragon. I have worked in my local pet store as a cashier for around 8-9 months and began soaking up information about these awesome little guys. Given that I'm a nursing student a study buddy is a good thing for me and please if I am doing something wrong tell me! I want nothing but the best for my little guy.
Onto his living conditions. Dova has just moved to a 40 gallon tank with a cave, small "pool" and a couple different trees to get him closer to the bulbs. He has only had this big house a day now. He eats around a dozen dusted small crickets a day and knows very well when they are coming but I also encourage him to have some salad as well (left greens and not iceberg!). I try to switch his lights every 12 hours since I can't afford the timer switch yet but will get one soon but one thing I have been a bit confused about. At night I usually turn off the UV light but would it be good to keep it on? I've read they can't see the UV and need it to absorb calcium.
I have noticed his basking spot is staying around 91°f when it should be higher. This is a new tank and bigger than his old one so I purchased higher watt bulbs just in case.
If these I anything you want to ask or anything I should know let me know!
