Tank size for babies

Hello everyone,

I have 3 baby dragons. I just moved 1 of the babies to a 29 gallon until he gets better. The other 2 are still in their 40 gallon. Even though I have a tall tree that runs near the top around the basking and UVB lighting, my babies spend a lot of time down on the bottom tile. I feel like they are too far from the UVB most of the time. I measured it yesterday and it looks like 15" away from the light to the bottom of the tank. They dont stay on the branches long at all. They will sit on their hammock some, but mostly stay at the bottom. Should I put the babies back in their 29 gallon tanks for now until they get bigger? 1 baby is about 10 inches, the other is around 12". Any suggestions will be great.

Good idea! Any platform suggestions? Or maybe I could just try to build something for them

Not sure the best way for baby beardies but I bought a book shelf "space saver" and put floor tile on it for my adult beardie so he can get close enough to the basking spot and the UVB lights. It creates a nice 2nd level and was pretty easy to do.

This is basically what I have, although mine is 6" wide.

I guess you would need some sort of ramp so he can get up and down easily and safely. My dragon likes to jump off of his, but he's a big adult and it doesn't bother him, not sure what it would do to a small dragon.

Thank you, that is a great idea. I would probably need a ramp, or maybe have it next to his tree to be able to climb on it. I bet my adults would like something like that too. Thank you for your help! :)

I would suggest what has worked for all my beardies....just get a nice branch from outside [ not pine or anything sappy ] Beardies love to climb and cling on to them, it's very natural. One long branch leaning against their little tree will do the trick. Just pop it in a preheated oven at 250 F for about 45 minutes to kill any possible pests . A branch for the cage furniture is free and abundant most anywhere you live.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
