Tank lighting- Powersun??

Hello everyone,
I currently have a 100w Powersun in my 20g tank. I have not been able to find any info on this bulb and I think it may be insufficient for my 2 month old baby.

What would be the best UVB strip light for resting on top of a metal mesh screen? And are there any money saving tips or alternatives to a hood?

Ive never heard of sun blaze and probably wouldnt trust it... you could just buy the reptisun bulb and then find a fixture at Walmart or something to fit it and mount it inside the tank somehow. I would mount my uvb inside my beardies enclosures if i could but at the moment they are sharing one 46" going across their enclosures.

I mean the fixture yes, the fixture would be perfect if you could mount it inside. I think i read the thing wrong thinking that it came with a bulb or something like that. Its still quite early in the morning.

You can get the Reptisun 5.0 t8 including the hood for 49.99 including shipping from here :

If you DO get this one, get the 24" . The 5.0 will be fine if mounted inside, it's the same strength as the old 10.0 t8's that we all used for many years + kept healthy dragons.

BTW, I've used Powersun bulbs for many years as well with good results, sitting on the screen and it would be fine for a 20 gallon.

But the best bulb of all is this one :

I think you got the t8 bulb which is not as strong as the t5. Is your 20 gallon tank a tall or a long ? And can you post a few pictures of it , esp. showing the screen ? If the screen is not the fly mesh [ tiny holes ] and the tank is a long rather than a tall you can mount it on top. Otherwise [ if it's a tall tank + the screen is fine ] it will be too high up + the screen will block a lot of the uvb, about 45 %. Soo in that case you would want to mount it inside using some wires threaded through the screen

It’s a 20 long. This is my current set up- since this screen slides out towards me I opened it a bit to rest my current uvb on top so that it is not over any screen

Oh yes, that will be fine. If you slid the screen out + have it setting in the opening just be sure she can't slip out somehow, they are very good at finding places to slip through which she could easily do by climbing her logs. If need be it can be set on top, your screen does not appear to be the tiny flyscreen. Can you get a pic of the screen again with a dime on it for scale ?
