Why don't you take the air temp by the basking. And why do you have to take surface temps of the basking spot ?


So I take it's fine to do air temps to determine the cold side?

I do both - the surface temp is to avoid burns, and good surface temps usually coincide with good air temps.

Well if I take the temp of the floor on the cool side I'm way cold like in the 60 but put the probe about 4 5 in up on the wall I'm at 78
