hi i hav a juvenile bearded dragon and i got him about a week ago. on the second day i got him i tried handling him and he kind of tried to move away but eventually stayed on my hand. later on he kind of let me hold him for about 10-20 minutes at a time. but sometimes i let him roam around the carpet and he has these quick, movements and tends to hide under the couch usually around the power cables. and some days he tries to run away when i pick him up. is my bearded dragon tame yet or not?

that's to be expected at that age. Babies are babies doesn't matter what species. It's like asking a kitten, infant, or puppy to sit still for a long time. Occasionally they might do it, but don't expect it all the time. BDs are naturally inquisitive and it seems to be magnified when they're young. They tend to like to run around, explore and lick things.

Just keep at it, don't expect them to sit on your shoulder all night for a while. Just pet and snuggle them, then when they start getting antsy, give them some space to roam so they can get it out of their system or put them back in the habitat. You can block off areas you don't want them. When mine were hatchlings I used to restrict them to the couch.

I have a 6 month old. I can get her to sit on me for 30-60 minutes, depending on how tired she is. But after that, if she's still awake, she wanders off and there's no keeping her. She doesn't run off, but she is very persistent about where she wants to go. No amount of redirecting will work. She's always been rather calm though. My 5 month old on the other hand. After a little bit of squirming, we can get him to sit for about 10-15 minutes, then he's off.

Oh yeah, my baby (8'' long) is crazy. Just as wild as a puppy or a kitten, and naturally inquisitive. I have noticed s/he gets more squirmy the higher off the ground she is held. She is calmer if she is held right above the bed/chair/floor. Usually, what I do is sit on the bed with my husband across from me and then the areas to our left and right blocked off by sheet/blanket. She can run around on the bed but doesn't get too far. As she calms down, I expect we won't have to do that as much anymore.

One thing you can do if they are super squirmy is put your free hand just over their head, blocking out the light, like making a cave with your palm. The darkness makes them stop moving around and when you remove their hand they are calmer for a few minutes.

Make a play pen for them out of 1x8 shelf boards, then you can put a heat light on a stand in it for them.
If you go to LOWES they will cut them to size for you, then all you need is corner brackets or hinges so you can fold it up and slide it behind the couch.

For an explorative baby beardie, you could try making a bathroom the designated play area because they tend to be very sealed, and there aren't many objects for them to squeeze themselves under. :D

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
