Totally new to beardies. I just got 2 seven week old beardies and temporarily have them together in a 20l with screen top. I'm located in Ohio and the high temps are running in the mid 80's. would it be ok to put the tank outside for several hours to let them catch some real sunshine?

No. Glass tanks are like a giant magnifying glass. Even 80 degree temperatures can quickly rise to deadly temperatures when a glass tank is put outside in direct sunlight.

Taking them outside for natural sunlight is something you can do though, just not in a glass tank.

Suggestions on what I could put them in? Or an idea of what I could build to put them in? Thanks for the quick reply!

when my beardie was really small and i felt too nervous to take him out, i put him in a large kricket keeper[hadnt been used yet, was brand new] with a t shirt in it. i took my temp gun with me and constantly monitored the temps just in case, the lid was kept off and it stayed in my lap so i could take him out if he jumped up or something.

Hi there...I've seen a thread where the poster had bought a screened enclosure by Abo gear [ happy cat habitat ] on Amazon . It's a screened enclosure meant to give a cat some fresh air, but it looks like the perfect thing for beardies, and the price is around $50.00. I meant to get one myself, but haven't yet. I take mine out in large plastic totes, but at 80 degrees they can only be in mottled shade/sun because they heat up quite a bit, too. You always need to be there to make sure they don't overheat, babies do so pretty quickly. In the screened enclosure they'd be fine.

I have a large white plastic laundry basket....its wide and keeps cool because of all the holes. I usually hold mine outside, but the laundry basket works for when i needto set him down, or if i want to have both out at the same time, I can hold one and put one in the basket.

Hi. I use a old rabbit cage. I put old towels on the bottom to cover the floor so they can walk and I put another old towel on top for some shade. So they can get sun or shade whatever they feelike. But only one at a time.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
