Twitch was Trey's 8th birthday present. Though his birthday is in July and we didn't get her till December. When our daughter turned 8 she got a hamster. Don't know if any of you had good or bad experiences with hamsters but Tela's was evil. She named it Boo and we ended up calling it Boodini because no matter what we did the darn thing managed to get out until we actually bought padlocks for both her cage doors. She tried to get out of our daughter's room by chewing up the carpet under her bedroom door. Of course carpets have carpet nails so she ended up all bloody in addition to wrecking the carpet. She bit Tela so often that Tela stopped telling us- we'd find a trail of blood drips from her room to the bathroom and bloody washcloths in the laundry. T was afraid we'd get rid of her pet. I was sad for T but honestly breathed a sigh of relief when Boo died. Rats are much better pets. But I realize I'm on beardeddragon.org and I digress. Just making my point that Beardies are the best!
Anyway, Trey's birthday rolled around in July but we were just not ready. Plus he wanted a leopard gecko and we were doing research. We found out how much friendlier / easier to handle beardies are and he was up for it. He held one in a store and it was so cute. But we were going away for Thanksgiving (ok we took a lot of time to research) and so we got her the day after we came home on 12/1/08. We didn't know about breeders or anything so we went to the store where Trey had held the beardie and were told they only have them in the summer. Trey was very sad.
We told him never fear and Derrick took him to the next town and they had several beardies in one tank. Derrick and Trey watched them for awhile and they picked the one that ran around the most and crawled over the others which were just lying there. That's our Twitchie!!!
We were so ignorant. Twitch got really sick.
We found this site and I read and read and read :study: and thanks so much to diamc for answering my plea for guidance as I don't know what we'd have done if she'd died. Now she's a big girl and all better!!!! :!:
:!: She is truly our princess and now we're worried about our upcoming vacation end of July who will take as good care of her as we will? :? Any of you bay-area posters live close enough to Rohnert Park to pet-sit?
We leashed Twitch for the first time the other day. When we opened the leash I was like :dontknow: so went back to the computer and watched Christy's video of Amber leasing Kang 3 times. Look at the leash, look at the video. I can hook up electronics but took me a few tries to do this. Honestly I should have had D video me trying to leash her as I'm sure you'd have been amused. I'd get one leg in and get all happy and then she'd pull it back out. But in the end she was comfy and it was so cute when we put her down. She was like 'really?'
check out the smile on this one
she got to walk in the grass
but went back to the sidewalk
Here's a great pic of D, Trey, n Twitch
Unfortunately the weather changed well I guess it's good we needed rain her in California but poor Twitchie probably wants out again! The sun's out now. The kids want to go to the pool when I pick them up from school. I'll probaby run them over and hold/walk Twitch while they swim. I'll take the camera!
D's aunt was over the other day, and we had Twitch out, she was so happy that Twitch liked her. Check it out
I actually put Twitch in her burrito and gave her to Patty and knew the exact moment she fell in love with her :love5: :love5: :love5:
I said, "You just fell in love didn't you" and she said "I can't help it!"
Now off to upload pics of Hermes. Sure my hubby will appreciate that I spent my day off showing off our babies!!
Rock on :headbang:
