Hi all, we so love this website and reading about all your beardies! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: So lucky to have so much advice and to have Hermes who we adopted from lizardgrrl...

Allow us to start with this picture because it cracked us up... we were like "Hermes please don't lick the hair!!!"

Wow ANother dragon named Hermes?!! That is what my daughter named her lizard when we got it in early January because Hermes is the greek messenger of the gods and is quick and he is quite quick!

Yes, we didn't pick the name but we like it :D He is very quick!
Last night Hermes had his best bath yet. A bunch of peeling skin came off his back and tail. He looked SO happy! His colors are really starting to come out. He's probably grown an inch since we got him and his head is starting to peel too. After his bath he stood on top of his towel in my arms and ate 15 phoenix worms out of my hand. He can be so finicky about the way he is fed! Sometimes he wants to be out of his tank and be hand-fed. Other times he wants to be in his tank and hand-fed. And sometimes he won't eat unless we actually drop the worms. He's pretty good at eating his salad too. After he ate he actually let Derrick burrito him up and settled down for a cuddle. This is the first time he's done that!
We bought our first batch of silkworms last week. Both Twitch and Hermes love them :blob5:. We had no idea how healthy for beardies silkworms are until we re-read the beautifuldragons food sheet. So glad we tried them!
I have so many pics, but haven't had time to load them on photobucket so more soon!

Hermes was arm-waving the other day so I grabbed the camera. First time we'd seen him do that! :love5: I'm not sure if he was waving at us, or at Twitch. Just now re-watching the video I wonder if he was waving at the temperature probe I had just put in there  Sorry the video's so wiggly I will work on steadying the camera next time

Twitch was Trey's 8th birthday present. Though his birthday is in July and we didn't get her till December. When our daughter turned 8 she got a hamster. Don't know if any of you had good or bad experiences with hamsters but Tela's was evil. She named it Boo and we ended up calling it Boodini because no matter what we did the darn thing managed to get out until we actually bought padlocks for both her cage doors. She tried to get out of our daughter's room by chewing up the carpet under her bedroom door. Of course carpets have carpet nails so she ended up all bloody in addition to wrecking the carpet. She bit Tela so often that Tela stopped telling us- we'd find a trail of blood drips from her room to the bathroom and bloody washcloths in the laundry. T was afraid we'd get rid of her pet. I was sad for T but honestly breathed a sigh of relief when Boo died. Rats are much better pets. But I realize I'm on beardeddragon.org and I digress. Just making my point that Beardies are the best! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: :blob5:
Anyway, Trey's birthday rolled around in July but we were just not ready. Plus he wanted a leopard gecko and we were doing research. We found out how much friendlier / easier to handle beardies are and he was up for it. He held one in a store and it was so cute. But we were going away for Thanksgiving (ok we took a lot of time to research) and so we got her the day after we came home on 12/1/08. We didn't know about breeders or anything so we went to the store where Trey had held the beardie and were told they only have them in the summer. Trey was very sad. :( We told him never fear and Derrick took him to the next town and they had several beardies in one tank. Derrick and Trey watched them for awhile and they picked the one that ran around the most and crawled over the others which were just lying there. That's our Twitchie!!!
Twitch.jpg

We were so ignorant. Twitch got really sick. We found this site and I read and read and read :study: and thanks so much to diamc for answering my plea for guidance as I don't know what we'd have done if she'd died. Now she's a big girl and all better!!!! :!: :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: :blob8: :!: She is truly our princess and now we're worried about our upcoming vacation end of July who will take as good care of her as we will? :? Any of you bay-area posters live close enough to Rohnert Park to pet-sit?

We leashed Twitch for the first time the other day. When we opened the leash I was like :dontknow: so went back to the computer and watched Christy's video of Amber leasing Kang 3 times. Look at the leash, look at the video. I can hook up electronics but took me a few tries to do this. Honestly I should have had D video me trying to leash her as I'm sure you'd have been amused. I'd get one leg in and get all happy and then she'd pull it back out. But in the end she was comfy and it was so cute when we put her down. She was like 'really?'

Unfortunately the weather changed well I guess it's good we needed rain her in California but poor Twitchie probably wants out again! The sun's out now. The kids want to go to the pool when I pick them up from school. I'll probaby run them over and hold/walk Twitch while they swim. I'll take the camera!

D's aunt was over the other day, and we had Twitch out, she was so happy that Twitch liked her. Check it out

I actually put Twitch in her burrito and gave her to Patty and knew the exact moment she fell in love with her :love5: :love5: :love5:
I said, "You just fell in love didn't you" and she said "I can't help it!"

Now off to upload pics of Hermes. Sure my hubby will appreciate that I spent my day off showing off our babies!!

Rock on :headbang:

I love beardies. They're so much cuter and fun and easier for me to understand than cats. (Sorry, Zippy and Sparkles.) The rats are cool, but beardies rock. :headbang:

So, it's kinda strange that I don't have a picture of my daughter with Hermes, 'cause she fell in love with him from the second we walked in the door. (She didn't come with us to pick him up because she had a Girl Scout adventure she was getting picked up for, and wanted to make sure that she didn't miss it.) But we would have made it and ended up feeling bad she didn't get to see Link, Zelda, Mercury, Astarte, Kang, Thoth and the rest of Lizardgrrl's sweeties. We showed her pics of most of them though on MaryAnn's website.

Here's the rest of us. You've seen Trey but here's another couple pics of him with Hermes and Twitch. He is SOOO cool in the 2nd grade to get to take in pics of his beardies. One of these days I'll take Twitch when I pick him up but she's still a little nervous about the leash, she loves to walk around but when she's done she's DONE and she beards at us and says I WANT IN MY HOME NOW  death stare. So we haven't taken her to the park or for a car ride yet.

Hermes sat on my neck for so long the other day, it felt weird... but he was so cuddly I couldn't make him move

It was so cute when Hermes finally decided Derrick could hold him without being scared... now they're good buds.

more pics of Hermes

his favorite camouflage tree I can't tell you how many times any or all of us have been like, where the heck is he? He's a good hider. Katherine would be proud, lol

He loves to climb the fireplace screen when he's out, I think it's like a neutral zone to him where he feels he can observe us all (and keep a close eye on the cat)

And of course bath pics are always fun lol. Poor Hermes and Twitch. I wonder if they think they're movie stars or if they go  Geez here comes Mom with that thing that flashes light at me.

Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all you moms of kids, beardies, whatever! :love5:

OH YA, wanted to share one more Twitch on her cactus pic. The last one was from the end of January. Here's a more recent one - I love how she just lets her back legs hang down. I feel bad that she doesn't have a stuffed animal like some lucky beardies but maybe her cactus counts 'cause she likes to cuddle on it and still sleeps on it sometimes. *Sniff* she used to sleep between the little fake spines, she's gotten SO BIG!!!

100_2431.jpg

 Glad my 'human' kids didn't grow that fast, for now I'm still bigger, though maybe not for long as T at 13 is catching up fast.

Those are awsome pictures!! Im glad the video helped some they sure can wiggle out of them pretty quickly. My daughter wanted a mohawk at one point too. I told her if she comes home with one id shave her head bald lol Kids will be kids 8) They get addicted to going outside. My daughter has Chimaira so dang trained its not funny that beardie can go anywhere and have fun. So easy to handle. I hope you get lots of sunshine for more trips outside!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
