Tail Scare!!!!

This is so stupid that it's actually funny and I'm going to share so you can all have a laugh on me. Merlin's been shedding and I knew the upper part of his tail had already shed so don't ask me why I reacted so badly to this.
I went home yesterday afternoon from work and walked in the door, said hi to the dog and then walked over to Merlin's viv to say hi to him like I usually do. He was sitting in his branch basking away happily. I looked down into the bottom of the cage and there under the branch laid about two inches of Merlin's tail. OMG, my heart almost stopped beating.. "What happened to your tail?" and then I realized that even though it looked like his tail it was really just the shed that had slid off his tail perfectly intact. Whew.... He was staring at me as if to say, "Silly human, what's wrong with you?"

haha that is cute ! Trust me when I had MJ's first shed... i thought she was dying !! I have never seen a reptile shedding ever before ! SO yeah i was in a panick mode until i realized what was going on. lol

I think this is his fourth shed since I've gotten him and to be honest, I still get upset when he pops the body part. Just something about it.... I prefer to be at work when it happens.

yep that was MJ's first shed. I dont even think shes done.. half her tail is still dull. ugh.. But i have to agree.. the body part... oh no.. i'll still freak out `!!!!

Get used to it. They shed sooo much when they're babies.

But I love when they shed as babies, because after each shed they are a little different. It's just so exciting trying to figure out what their final color is going to be.

Lincoln hasn't shed since i got him yet, but that's good to know. I would probably freak out too.

I know.. when i first got MJ she was all gray and some brown.. after her first shed she has some orange patterns, goes all the way down her tail and now a bit green !! I almost not want her to shed anymore.. dont want her to lose her color =D

They won't loose color, but rather get more colorful with each shed. Scorch had no color as a baby and is now a complete cheeto head

Yea, i promise in another 3 months you'll be looking back at photos of MJ thinking that can't possibly be the same dragon. I guess the only way you'd be upset is if you weren't wanting her to get any brighter. Like i've said many times, my first dragon started out with just a redish stripe down her back with brown on the sides, now she's bright orange and red all over.

oh how exciting ! Ok now i cant wait !!!! I just hate the process of shedding i feel like a helpless mama... my baby's itching all over and i cant do anything !!!
