Tail rot.

Hello, I had just got back from work today and came home and noticed Leo has tail rot.
It is due to shed that was stuck on the end of the tail and obviously struggled to get off and it has just snapped off.
I haven’t touched it other than when i first saw it and was wondering what it was.
I’m going to ring the vets on my break tomorrow at work but has anyone got some advice or tips?
I am worried sick now and so annoyed at myself for not noticing but I’m glad it is only a tiny piece of his tail and hopefully not too serious.
It should be added I took Leo to a reptile specialist last Friday for his general checkup and everything was fine. This has happened in a matter of 5 days.

Hopefully it's just the very tip there and won't progress any further. Even if a slight amputation were needed at any point it's not a difficult or painful procedure for them. Has Leo's tail always been wavy ?

Yes it’s just the very tip, he’s always had that tiny bit at the end of his tail (that part that’s falling off) that’s been bent as well so I don’t think it should progress any further.
His tail has always been wavy at the end yes.
I’m feeling so down about it, I feel like I’ve failed him as an owner :(
I’m going to try get a vets appointment for friday or tomorrow evening.

No, they can develop these things out of the blue. It should be fine. You can even try soaking that tip in a betadine water mix.

I don’t have any betadine unfortunately.
If I can’t get him in the vets tomorrow or Friday I shall order some

Sounds good, try not to worry.
Just thought I would update you! I managed to get an appointment earlier today and the vet looked him over and said it doesn’t look infectious or like it will spread since the black part has fallen off. He has been given a round of anti inflammatory and pain killers to be on the safe side :)

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
