Yes, that will fall off eventually with or without intervention. Sometimes they heal fine but you just have to watch that the black spot doesn't move up. If you want the vet to have a look you can see what he says, but it's probably going to fall off at that point either way.

Well hopefully it will not require surgery. I've been soaking it in bedadine. Someone on some other forums were saying it was dangerous and could spread and to get it removed. I would be more than happy if it just dropped off, I just don't want it to spread.

Well I got the little guy to the vet this morning (I haven't given him a name, since I originally planned to sell him to a coworker, but I guess I need to name him, since I will be keeping him)

It is gout.... :( We are trying a human gout med that has been titrated down for his size. I can't remember the name of the drug, I'll let you guys know when I pick it up this afternoon.

Im gonna start researching gout in reptiles, hopefully get more knowledge on it.

Also she saw Santana's tail, it was tail rot, we went ahead and removed the dead portion. He is doing great.

Thanks again for all your help and advice. If you guys know anyone in particular who has a beardie with gout please let me know; I would like to learn how to give him a long comfortable life.

Thanks again,
Lexie

Hey guys I recently found out I have a beardie with gout. I'm currently researching as much as possible on it. I want to do my best to give him a happy comfortable life. If any of you guys have any advice or tips, I would greatly appreciate your info! He is currently (02-18-14) is 69g and he was (01-24-14) 40g. So he is gaining weight, I want to do a blood test when he is big enough to see exactly what we are up against.

But in the meantime we are trying a human drug for gout.

If you guys have any tips/advice at all please don't hesitate. I need to know what to feed him, how to supplement him, what to avoid and ect.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Lexie,

Are you referring to allopurinol?
How bad is the gout? Did they do a blood test also to determine the levels?
I have treated a dragon with gout & it was successful. The key is to keep them hydrated & on a low to moderate protein intake as well.
How is he doing today?

We didn't do a blood test, since he is only 69g. We will be doing one when he is bigger. Yes it is allopurinol, he is getting 1.4 mg daily. She looked at it the swellings and where they were located and said that it was gout, she got a huge reptile medical book, showed me the pictures and the suggested treatments. She also offered to X-ray it, but she was sure it was gout.

If his limbs would of never of swollen I would have no idea he was ill. He is growing well, eats well, poops well, active, etc.

How much should I cut his protein down to since he is still a growing juvenile. Also what is the best way to supplement him? I have been researching and some say cherry extract can help?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
