Hi!
I have a female bearded dragon- 7 year old. She's in good health, eating like crazy, active and still happy to explore and bathe. We noticed almost a month ago that a digit on her left hand was swollen, then realised it was more like the foot was swollen.
We took her to our nearest reptile vet who was really good with her. She didn't think it was stuck shed, but rather more likely an infected injury. Anyway, we got an x-ray to make sure it wasn't bone related (it isn't) and she was prescribed antibiotics and anti swelling medicine which we have been giving her for the past week and a half. She has finished the anti swelling and her last antibiotic is to be delivered on monday.
I am concerned that I have not noticed a difference with the hand. It is still just as swollen and appears to be filled with pus. It was bleeding slightly before our vet visit and it doesn't seem to have bled since but there is a bloody scab. What is likely to be wrong? Is there any reason why the medicine wouldn't work?
I'm changing the substrate to make it a bit softer but her injury doesn't seem to be affecting her, she still climbs and jumps around like a young lizard! Pictures on link below http://imgur.com/a/2Rwvhde
