swollen finger

My beardie's digit is swollen, and it is blackening near the claw. It is also sensitive for her when it is touched. I'm going to take her to the vet this week, but I just wanted an opinion on what it could be until I get in. I'm thinking it is either gout or retained shed? Any opinions?

(You will notice the adjacent finger is missing a claw. That finger was already like this when I adopted her in April 2014--she was already a year old then. I had thought nothing of it at the time, but now I'm wondering if there could be any correlation.)

I bet that doesn't feel good.
I hope it isn't the start of gout, but it looks like it could possibly be an infection which is causing the swelling, along with maybe some retained shed?
It has been like this since you adopted her?
How is her appetite?
Are her wrists swollen at all, it didn't appear that way in the pictures.

It's been this way for the last week and a half. Her appetite is good. Eating greens and worms and she has a good stool. Her finger is about the same as last week (I didn't visit the vet), and her wrist is not swollen.

I have been putting polysporin on the digit and trying to give her a soak daily (though I've missed a couple days).

Is there any type of thing I should do for her?

Hello,

If it has not gotten any worse, then you can continue to wash it daily, with diluted betadine & bathe frequently if you would like. Then put the antibiotic ointment on it, or you can also try some unpasteurized honey or manuka honey to help with infection.
I would watch for the discoloration traveling upwards on the finger & or to the hand, too. Could she have possibly been bitten previously before you got her?
