swollen eye

hello,

sorry if this is just being overly concerned but i just noticed this. i had given my dragons a bath and i had him out about an hour later and noticed that he could barely open his eye. water did get splashed onto his head and probably into his eye. is this something serious or should i be on my way to the vet.

Water should not cause a problem. Could you post a pic of the eye? What type of uv bulb do you have? Some cause eye problems.

wow, sorry,

that was a scare. because of his color I couldn't tell he is starting to shed. he just started opening his eye and it looks like some of the shedding is sticking into his eye and it moved so he can open it, but if anything happens over night I will be concerned.

Another bath may help get rid of some more of that shed and help his eye.
Some people have had trouble with the Reptiglo 10. The best strip light is the Reptisun 10.

okay, so I'm ordering the reptisun for my little dragons and putting them in separate tanks. but Draco still seems to prefer keeping his eye shut, it doesn't seem to be swollen, but I'm getting concerned again. Is it natural for a dragon to want to keep the same eye shut a lot. when i first got him he was doing it, but wouldn't keep the eye shut. sorry if I'm overreacting to something small, but my brother had a bad experience with a baby beardie and it's transferring to my experience right now.

I understand. I do suggest you turn the reptiglo 10 tube off. That will tell you if his eye problems are because of that uvb or not as he'll get better. You could take him outside in the real sun but turn the uvb off. He'll need the time to let his eyes heal before putting the reptisun 10 tube in anyway. The cheapest place I've found for the reptisun 10 tube is petmountain.com they are charging about $18 for them.

as far as the light goes, both dragons are in the same tank and the other has none of the problems. both of her eyes are always open, but he has always had the tendency to shut his right eye.

Okay, based on what I read on beautifuldragons, it seems likely that Draco has Vitamin A deficiency. Has anyone had any dealings with this that can offer help. because it is just the lid that is swollen and I see tears which is how the site describes this condition.
