Hey all, its been awhile since i've posted...srry. Been through some surgery myself... I pposted a thread awhile back on Syth's bump, and was told by a herp expert to leave it alone. Well a few days ago I'd put my female in with him when I checked on them later I guess she'd clawed his head and sliced the bump several times. Called the vet immediatly and could not get him in until the next morning so I bandaged, used a syringe to clean it with betadine and watched him like a hawk.
Took him in the next morn for a drop off visit with the vet (who has 31yrs exotic experience) He phoned me later and asked me for permission to dig deeper and to excise the entire wound. He was concerned though because the dragons skull was porous under the growth. The growth was seemingly just sebum in a fluid filled sack with attached blood vessels. He was kept overnight because the vet was concerned about the amount of bleeding. Hes now on baytril and I have to put two drops daily of betadine on the wound...I feel so bad for him. any advice would be great, should I be concerned about his gut flora? Should I give him some yogurt?? He;s such a good dragon, taking all this , I just hope he does get better. The vet had never seen such a growth, no infection at all and the sebum seemed to be coming from the skull itself so he's not sure if this will help at all... I'm hoping though.
