Hi,
I am a new beardie owner. I have a 7 mth old male (I think) and have a question about supplements. I have read conflicting information on how many times a week you should give calcium and multi vitamin. I have read MV 4-5x week and cal 7x or MV 3x and calcium 4x. When I purchased him I was told daily calcium and multi vitamin 3x week (this is what I have been doing). Am I giving to much calcium/not enough vitamin? I am confused.
I am dusting the crickets or worms I have been feeding him so i know he is ingesting it and so far seems very healthy.
Any info would be hugely appreciated

Hi there,

A beardie (especially younger ones) should be getting calcium dustings with every feeding... Multivitamins are important too (especially if he/she doesn't like to eat their salads). I dust all of my little guy's food with calcium at EVERY feeding. Multivitamins 4-5x a week as well; feeder bugs are most of the time lacking in nutrition.

Another tip: When you make your salads, make sure you dust them. I usually give saladsevery day (he doesn't usually eat them though), and place the leftovers in my feeder bin (I feed crickets); this gutloads the crickets with lots of nutrition, in addition to dusting the crickets themselves.

If he is happy and healthy, I wouldn't be too concerned though. Calcium is the super important one, so long as he is getting it with every feeding, you should be okay. I've heard multiple things about multivitamins as well, so I understand the confusion. I'm in no way an expert, but the above is how I feed my little guy.

I completely understand. I bought my baby a couple weeks ago from a reptile shop. They told me all the WRONG information, that upon joining this site, I had to fixed EVERYTHING. But again, glad I can help!
