Superworms?

I just wanted to check before I continued feeding my beardie supers. I just started giving him supers as he is 15", but 60% of that is tail. I ordered the small supers, but they're not so small anymore. I was hoping to keep him on supers, but I'd rather not take him to the vet because I'm feeding him the wrong thing to save money. Also, what would be a good alternative to supers? I was thinking I may try investing in a dubia colony. I did have him on phoenix worms but they were getting very expensive with the amount he eats. (I want to avoid crickets because they're just too much of an annoyance smell and noise wise)

I'm going through the same problem as you. I ordered 250 medium superworms and I dread seeing all of them in their cup - there are so many and they are huge! My girl is only 12", but she is a rescue so she may be full grown. Still I'm nervous to feed them because they are already bigger than between her eyes and they're gonna get bigger! For me I'm going to try cutting in half. It probably won't work but I'll try
Dubias are a great alternative. They aren't as cheap, but supers and mealworms are about as cheap as they get but they aren't very nutritious (mealworms anyway). Butterworms are easy maintenance like supers, but they are kind of small and expensive. I'd definitely go with dubia.

My feeling on supers is to wait till your dragon is full grown. They are high in fat and can be addicting, you don't want your growing dragon snubbing healthfood in favor of more fatty things.

Dubia are excelent, a colony ensures you always have bugs. If you live in the souther USA you could try culturing pheonix worms in a composter. Silkworms are good too, but expensive to buy or slow to rear. Butterworms are an excelent treat but high in fat.

I just got a sampler pack with hornworms, dubais, supers, wax worms, and pheniox worms. My dragon LOVES supers. I waited until he was an adult to try them and they are highly addictive. I would try to limit them. My dragon refuses to eat crickets because he loves supers so much, one of the reason I got the sampler pack to figure out what he likes. Have you tried dubais with your dragon? You might want to try a few before you invest in a colony. my dragon doesn't like them at all...I would hate for you to spend tons of money and your dragon not like them..good luck!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
