Superworms: yea or nay?

So I just drove an hour and a half to pick up crickets for Spike and the store was all sold out. I picked up some superworms instead. I know there has been some controversy over superworms, so just wondering if it's ok to use them to replace the crickets for a few days until I can make it back into town. Also, if it's ok, how many should I give him and how often?

If Spike isn't 16 inches it can easily cause impaction. Over 16 and you should be alright for a couple days. Are there any other pet stores near by? You might also be able to get him to eat dragon pellets, or veggies for a couple days.

Spike is at least 20 inches long. I'll just try one worm and the veggies and see how he does, he's been a few days without crickets already, but he's been eating veggies here and there.

Superworms can actually be a staple for a dragon his size. Have you thought about ordering your crix online? It is sooo much cheaper, not to mention you don't have to drive to get them.

I have thought about that, but I'm giving him away soon so there is no point ordering in bulk anymore. How many supers can he have in a day?

How old is he? To start off I'd say only 10 or so to be sure he can digest them okay. Once he's used to them, he can have as many as he wants. I've never fed supers as a staple (actually, my doll won't touch them) but I know others have.
