I got my order of 200 superworms the other day. The first night I threw in about 6 larger pieces of carrots on top of there whole oat substrate. By the morning the carrots were pretty much gone. How often do I need to feed the supers with carrots and other things?

I use baby carrots (cut in half) and replace them daily. Mine are in a "bedding/food" of oatmeal and grape nuts(cereal). I had an order of 250 from great lakes hornworms and I did not have a SINGLE one die! I only have about 10 of those 250 left and they are just as lively as the day I got them.

thanks,
That's what I go, my substrate is just oats and I place baby carrots cut in half every other/3rd day. I was just making sure I was doing it right, It's my first time with superworms.

How long can you expect supers to stay alive under these conditions. I tend to buy 50 at a time but I feed my beardie all of 20 and then they all die and I'm sick of wasting money. I'd rather buy them in bulk and manage to keep them alive.

You must be doing something wrong if they are dying that fast.

They can be kept for months, i've even heard a year.

Yeah there is something wrong there. I've done oatmeal but don't like it cause I always had mold problem within like 2-3 days. I mix about 50/50 peat moss and wheat bran. I used to used chicken feed to but it wasn't eaten until the bran was gone. I buy a 50lbs bag of wheat bran at Agway for like $15 and same for Peat Moss also for about the same both were about $28 total I think. I buy 5lbs of carrots and cut them in half long ways and add in new ones every 3 days or so, I keep the old ones in there though. The peat moss holds the moister and I haven't had a mold problem since I started using it. I also throw in oranges, cucumbers, any other veggies left over from dinner (kale is a good one too). I breed them and have about 3000-4000 now and been doing that for about a year now. Hope that helps

I originally wasnt feeding them, so i'm sure they would run out of the chow they came with pretty quick. I'm starting to feed them now so I'm hoping they last much longer!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
