I have a year old bearded dragon named Marty who is 13 inches (due to tail nip). He's a little on the thin side, so I decided to get him some superworms, as dubias are illegal where I live. He ate two yesterday, which heads I chopped off and this morning had a big poo. Today I gave him two more, but didn't cut the heads off. (I'm kind of on the fence about that part) I am wondering if should continue feeding him them (probably about 1 or 2 every second day) and if so, should I chop the heads off? I know about the whole eating his intestine thing but wouldn't his stomach acids prevent that as well as the worm being chewed up in his mouth? He also has a varied diet of hornworms, butterworms, about 25 crickets a day and fresh greens with calcium every day. Some people say wait until your beardie is 16 inches until you start feeding supers, but Marty would be pretty close if he didn't have his tail nipped when he was young. Is this true?
Thanks so much,
Maggie and Marty
