after reading the superworm breading guide i thought it would be quite easy to do then one day i came home from work and found a "alien" in my backroom... i thought to myself hmm that be cool if i could turn it into a beetle. so i put it into a container and kept my eye on him... then a few days later i found a actual beetle in my back room! i quickly scooped him up and put him in a container and put some endive in there. he died a few days later:(
so i kept checking on the alien and he started to turn reddish so i knew it was going to change soon and sure enough he did so i put him in the same container as the first one. this was back on feb 18th

a bunch have shedded and are still cralwing around...

so i think im on my way to superworm freedom!!! when i do have a bunch of beetles im going to cut a bottom of a tupperware container and hotglue a screen mesh and stack it on another Tupperware so the beetles breed and the babys hatch and crawl down through screen into their own safe space...

this is my bin of supers.. these are fairly new i just got them about a month ago 1000 of them

i just want to say how much i like superworms compared to crickets!! ive had supers for over 4 months and they never smell and take up way less room!! they are they way to go up here in canada eh!

I have been feeding them for a couple weeks. I love that they have no smell and are easy to take care of. Also they don't die off like crickets. I have been gut loading mine with cricket food. So they are more nutritious for my female beardie. I will watch how you do to see if I should breed some too :p

I hear supers bite, do the beatles bite to? How big are the beatles?
I'm so grossed out by these nasty buggies!! It's a good thing I love my little beardie- who's supposed to be my sons, but I do all the caring....10year old boys, I tell ya!

supers dont bite... at first when you grab them they curl up around your finger and it feeels like they are biting you but its just their leggs ... supers are really cool and clean by far the best feeders you can have up here in canada as long as your dragon is big enough...
heres a pic of the beetle witha penney by it so u can see the size

Thank you :)
Ya, I won't be breeding those anytime soon. I cringe and get the heebie jeebies just picturing it beside the penny I just took out :bleick: I can just imagine how the rest of my family would react LOL None of them like having the crickets. My middle boy has anxiety and the crickets freak him out as it is

I keep crickets, but never 1000. I get 250 or 500 usually and divide them into 2 containers,I need to get a small aquarium for them. The first few times I got them they smelled horrible, made me nauseous. Now it's not too bad. I clean out the bin regularily, stick all the crickets in a container get rid of the dead ones and crap, put in new egg cartons, water and food then stick the crickets back in. It took some practice, and I'm sure I have a good sized colony of renegade crickets in the house, but it's pretty easy now. :p

I don't like crickets. They stinky to bad and are super loud. I also think roaches are super creepy. I like worms because they live forever and don't smell :p

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
