Hey everyone. I am sorry for opening yet another Superworm topic, but it seems that my problem is unique and i might need a lot of attention from you to solve this problem.

First of all, i have been breeding superworms for about 6 months now. I tried everything. I tried puting them into oats and moving to a different container every 3-4 weeks. I ended up with tons of substrate with maybe 10 small worms inside. I tried puting them into container with mixture of peatmoss and dirt, also adding lots of pieces of wood ( i made cracks into them cause superworm bettles seem to love laying eggs inside cracks) . This container was full of moisture. Then i put them into container with oats/dog food/bran, adding egg cartons, toilete rolls, wood with cracks and plenty of carton with cracks. Also i added water dish.

I always gave them pieces of potato every few days ( when it dried out ). I tried different temperatures, from room temperature ( when it was colder ) to room temperature as it is now ( warmer ), also i tried with even warmer temperatures ( using light from my reptiles ).

As you can see on second picture, this is all i got in 6 months !! I have about 70 bettles right now, about 30 died from age already, and i got another 15 pupas. Right now i have more bettles then i have superworms. This is plain stupid.

I seriously need you to help me with this. There are only 3 possible things i can see . Either tobbaco bothers them ( i smoke ), or my superworm suplier added something to make them not make babys, or i am just out of luck.

As u can see on picture 1, i changed them yet to another enviroment today. Its smaller one, with very little substrate, i plan on changing it every 2 weeks. On left you can see some salat and piece of potato, on right you can see pieces of bread and dog food. Beside that, bedding is made out of bearded dragon food and mixed cookies. I also added calcium and vitamines in powder. The reason for such strange bedding is that i tried basicly every possible thing i found online and nothing works ( well, it worked, i got 20 worms, while i should be having 10.000 ).

Soo far i always had them in daylight during day and naturaly, at night, there was dark. Soo now in their new environment i put them into a complete darkness, 24/7. Not sure if they can see in dark though, i hope they can mate and lay eggs. Its funny also, i never saw them laying eggs into substrate, only time i saw them laying eggs was into cracks of objects ( i saw many eggs in those cracks ).

What am i doing wrong ? :(

Also on picture 3 i put together adult mealworm and "superworm". Soo you can determine if it is a superworm or just a strange mealworm.

I hope from what i wrote soo far that you can help me. If i need to add more info, tell me. Also, if any of you who succesfully breed superworms soo far ( completed at least 1 cycle bettle - egg - bettle ) could you please PM me your MSN adress soo we can talk there, go into details, etc.

the only thing i can tell you is to read up on my post, it basically covers it all. . . If you have specific questions you can pm me. But it sounds like you tried to hard? All they need is wheat bran, some blended oats, corn meal, maybe some protein powder and your good to go. Room temp works just fine, they do not need all those things that you put in the container ie pieces of wood etc. Just about an INCH of substrate and apiece of egg carton and some carrots. DO NOT add extra moisture into the container by using water crystals, water, etc.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
