So for those of you knowing about the trouble with sunny i have been having know what i have done to try and help her. To fill in the people who dont know. She has gotten insanely aggressive it seems to worsen as we go on. I have covered her cage on all sides not including the top and i have a small area in the front i do not have covered so i can see her. She has perfect temps a UVB bulb with good exposure. She has not eaten in about a week now maybe a little more maybe a little less. This includes no intake of veggies fruits, any source of protein and not vitamins or minerals. She gets bathed if i can get her out of her cage which is now almost impossible without damage to her or myself.

I regret to inform you all that if i cannot get sunny to take food i will be giving up my guardianship over her. (im not worried about her aggressive behavior i can work with that) The reason for this is, I do not want her to starve to death or get the metabolic bone disease. I will be giving her to one of my family friends who breeds her dragons. She is an animal rescue and she takes care of domestic and wild animals. I do not have the knowledge or the experience to force feed her without causing her harm or her getting lose and attacking me. I honestly think this is the best thing for her. I do not want to be responsible for her death or suffering and want to prevent what i can. I think sunny was not meant to live in a house as hectic as mine is and i regret putting her in this situation. I do love her dearly and it will be hard for me to see her go. I do not think i will be getting another beardie for a LONG time if EVER. If my friend cannot take her i dont know what i will do since i do not know who would take her and i dont want to through her onto someone else without them being completely knowledgeable and understand the situation and the species.

I want to thank the people who tried to help me figure out what i could do to help her. It really meant a ton to me. I wont be leaving the forum i will be around with updates on sunny because i will remain part of her life through whatever may come if our friend takes her. I also will be sticking around to gain more knowledge incase i ever do get another BD.

At the end of the week so next monday we will be taking sunny to our friends if she agrees to try and help us. I will only take her if she does not eat. If she does start eating i will NOT be taking her to out friend. I wanted to let you guys know so if there are some of you who disagree with me please do not put hateful comments. Its already hard enough.

sorry to hear that you have to give her up. hopefully your friend can help.

i was wondering if the not eating would be due to her being gravid. i have read that they can lay eggs as young as 6 months. and she looks like she might be big enough.

Tasty Treat stopped eating for 2 weeks and started pooping frequently and they were really small. She was also non-stop crazy.

if she ends up calming down would you take her back?

Wouldnt she have had to breed to be gravid she has never been around another dragon since i have had her.
I never thought of her being like that and even though she isnt eating she is still pooing and she used to let out piles now its just little plops.
If she were to calm down i would most likely take her back if i had my own room where my little brother would not be scaring her and screaming in the same room as her. How long would it be before she laid her eggs if she was gravid since they are not fertilized. Also what did you do about her not eating? She didnt get real sick or anything?

actually she does not have to breed to become gravid. it all depends on the dragon but lots of dragons lay infurtal eggs every season. or multible times a season. it all depends. its kinda like how we get periods.
too bad you live so far from me. i may have been able to help.

So she will lay them? How long should i expect to wait before she lays? She has also been going into her hide allot and running her nose along the sides and bottom of the cage is this relevant to be gravid?

wow she so sounds gravid. is she trying to dig? she stopped eating? feel her tummy for bumps. most dragons do not just randomly start acting like that. there is normally a reason.

I dont know if she is digging or trying to get out but i felt her belly i didnt feel any lumps but on her right side she is a bit harder than on the left side. Will her not eating until she lays if she is gravid put her in danger?

you would need to set up a lay box with moist dirt and sand. it needs to be a foot deep for her to dig a tunnel. the dirt (not fertilized) needs to be wet enough to form tunnels, but not muddy. it helps to pack it down before you put her in.

when a female dragon starts to scratch at the corners and looks like she is digging that means she is ready to lay eggs.

if a female cannot lay her eggs she risks becoming eggbound. which it deadly.

if you know someone who has experience with female bearded dragons and eggs, ask them to come over and see her. they should be able to tell you if she is gravid or not.

try the lay box but i would think about taking her to a vet just in case. she could be gravid but she could also egg bind. or it would be something else. impaction or such. take her to a vet. i think it is so weird that a dragon starts like this.

Im going to go to the store and get some sand and put her in her bin... hoping this is whats wrong. Should i use the liquid reptile diet and try and give that to her?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
