My dragon Bertie has been acting off lately, and it’s similar to what she does in the winter time for burmation.
She hides all day. Before, she would hide under her rock cave all day. I laid her rocks flat so she couldn’t do that anymore as she isn’t getting sufficient UVB exposure under there. Now she hides behind her tree and doesn’t move. Not to bask, not to eat.
Her appetite is still good, her eyes are usually open when she’s laying there so she’ll react when she sees me bring food. She’s been more moody than usual too when I try to pick her up. She’ll puff up, gape and hiss.
But the thing is, my dragon has Gout, and I’m wondering if she could be inactive because of the pain.
She went from not using her leg at all to being able to get around pretty well on it now. But when the pain was at it’s worst she’d still get up everyday and bask.
I’m not sure what could really be wrong.
I plan to take her to the vet but at the moment funds are tight.
Husbandry:
•I’m home medicating her for gout with pedialyte, cherry extract and lots of water to keep it at bay. (Vet approved)
•She has a 150w heat bulb, basking spot is around 101-103 and ambient on the warm side 98. On the cool side it’s about 84-85. (She’s spending all her time on the cool side)
•For UVB she has a tube bulb
•Diet: all Greens, no protein. If any protein, a few Superworms a week at the most.
