I just lost my Bearded Dragon Opie yesterday. She was a little over 3 years old. Her temps are spot on, ate calcium coated crickets and romanie and carrots mainly. Her appetite was the best it had been 2 weeks ago. Then she suddenly stopped eating. She had done this before so I wasn't worried. Then yesterday I woke up to find her roaming her house and had 2 all blood stools. Her beard and tail then turned black. I got her to the vet and she died 2 hours later. He seemed to have no idea. Has anyone had a similar situation or know what happened? I am blaming myself and beating myself up over this. I can't stop crying.https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=726996623982525&l=31fe78acfd

I'm so sorry about poor Opie, I know your heart is broken ! :( Was she roaming around the hose and possibly swallowed something ? Was she possibly full of eggs + couldn't lay ? No one can guess what happened without a necropsy, but please don't blame yourself. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy !

Oh, I just was trying to throw out some possibilities. Beardies can develop infertile eggs even if they're alone though, and some females become eggbound and can't lay. Again...just looking at possibilities. Again, so sorry.

Hello, sorry I am a little new to this. But, correct me if I am wrong. Vto my understanding, female beardies do still lay eggs, even if there are no other beardies around. They will lay infertile eggs (like a chicken). Did she have a lay box? I know that if there is no spot for them to bury their eggs, the won't lay them and in turn may become egg bound. This could be what happened. Just a thought.

I'm sorry for your loss, it's never easy to lose a baby

Female beardies can have infertile eggs. I know from experience. My girl Miney (the pic on my avatar) was only a year old when she started laying infertile eggs. After laying about 25 eggs, she stopped eating and quickly declined in health. I lost her in September after taking her to the emergency vet. She died at their clinic. They performed a necropsy on her and found that she was eggbound and that at least one egg ruptured inside her and that caused her death. So without a necropsy there really is no way of knowing.

Again I'm very sorry for your loss and know that she knew how much you loved her.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
