My little lazy angel has just in the last 3 days started these bouts of craziness in her tank. All temps are fine, nothing has changed ... except a new batch of crickets who are older than I ordered and chirping to beat the band. Thought I'd mention that because they are stored in the same room with her and that's the only change in 4 months in her controlled environment.
Here's what's going on. She gets out of her sleeping blanket on her own now at the crack of dawn. She goes from her hot spot to sudden craziness for about an hour and then stops. When things get started she runs around the cage, glass dances, digs at all 4 corners of her tank, is not eating her crickets for hours, and throwing her salad from one end of the tank to the other. I haven't seen this kind of activity since she was 3 months old. She is approx 10 months old now. In the last month she has really been playing with puffing up, black bearding people, and being more aggressive at our cats. On the flip side she is also being given the opportunity to explore and make her own choices where she wants to hang out. After all this time, she is starting to show that she is interested in loving on us by coming back and cuddling, nuzzling or hiding in our shirts, shorts... whatever. I feel we are starting to get love back instead of just giving it and she tolerating us.
My thoughts are: could this be hormonal? does she need a "digging" box? she is the only Beardie in the house so there's no possibility that she has fertile guys on board.
Any thoughts, suggestions, links would be welcome. Our first beardie, our first teenager...
