I clip on a lamp, doesn't have to be a heat bulb but just a regular house bulb, they still put off heat. And if you put a blanket or towel over it, just don't leave the house in case of fire. I haven't had it happen but I am always home just in case. I prop the tub lid against the tub and put the lamp on there and drape a towel/blanket over it all. I have a temp gun and it varies between 72-82 degrees usually.

Behavior sounds right. My Miss Buddy is being weird. She is acting like she is going to lay but then randomly for a day she sleeps. So I'm confused right now. But when she did lay it was like a cycle over and over again 3 times. She would be restless, eat, poop, get really light with a dark beard, dig, not dig, dig, not dig (FRUSTRATING!) and eventually lay. Be lazy for a day or two (feed her lots and give her water, lots of calcium) and start it over again.

And Buddy has laid 6 times, I have never felt her eggs. I tried but I couldn't tell. Don't feel bad.

It's completely normal for them to try to get out. She should be find on the dirt. I bought play sand from Home Depot for less than $5.
As long as the soil/dirt/whatever isn't hurting them, staining them, and can form for them to make a tunnel, it should be find. I would make sure there's nothing toxic in it because she probably licks it a bunch, I know Buddy licks the sand. Never enough to become impacted but still.

If there are eggs it will feel almost like she is full of marbles.
To keep it warm without a direct heat source I placed my lay bin inside of her viv but I built the viv and it is rather large.
I use the Eco-Earth stuff. Cost like 7 bucks and it's all natural.
We played our little lets maybe lay today dance for well over a week. Just keep giving her the chance and when she is ready she will lay.
Note that if she has any type of health issue she may not lay. They will become egg bound before they put their life at risk to lay whilst ill.

someone just told me that this could be preparations for brumation and maybe not gravid-ness, could this be true?

Update: her behaviour went back to normal, also eating habits are ok, poop looks normal, so no idea, could this be some mating thing or just moody behaviour? I'm happy to see her ok again:)

That is really strange, those were pretty obvious egg laying signs with the restlessness, not eating, and tiny poop presents all over. That's definitely not brumation prep, they're pretty much the exact opposite of restless when they're getting ready for that with progressive laziness.

My first girl acted that way for about a month before she was ready to lay, but my other girl was only about 10 days. Neither of them ever wanted to be in the lay box until the hour before they were ready to lay.

I would just keep an eye on her. I suppose it could be she was just in a "mood" but at 1.5 years old (I think that's how old you said she was) they're pretty much past the puberty stage.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
