Stuck Shed?

Hello all. Recently, my little girl Lola has been developing what seems to be a stuck shed at the base of her tail, on the top of her body. It's manifesting as standard light, flaky white skin but it hasn't come off in probably three weeks. We bathe her once or twice a week and even bought Shed Aid but it's still there. It seems to be sensitive to the touch and Lola will squirm and wriggle away if we touch it. What's the best way to help her shed without her damaging her tail or physically pulling it off?

Have you considered bathing her more than once a week?

Can you post a photo of it? I'd be slightly concerned that it seems sensitive but it may just be the usual irritation that can come with sheds. I'd keep the baths up and be patient. If it stays stubborn, you could try gently brushing it with a soft bristled toothbrush if she'll allow it.

I don't see any wounds so that's a good thing. It does just look like a stuck shed to me. I would provide daily soaks for a while to try and help it along but wouldn't be too aggressive with it.

We finally seem to have made progress on Lola's tail during her bath last night, a good portion of it came off when we brushed her scales with a toothbrush.
