Stuck Shed and Injuries??

Hello all,

Been a while since I've been here but I'm back with some Pancake problems again.

So just to start off I keep my 10 month old beardie in a 75 gallon under a SolarGlo mercury all-in-one bulb 160 w (I think that's the big one?) It's a UVB bulb but the mercury is what creates the heat. With baths normally twice a week, calcium dusted salads, dubia roaches, multivitamins, and no other beardies housed in the enclosure. I have new UVB strip lights coming in because I'm wondering if the light had something to do with this.

Anyways.

Pancake has had these two patches of shed; on his mid-tail and arm where he had old injuries. The shed has been on there for a week now, maybe even longer. On his hand he's had two bizarre injuries where the scales look like they were actually scraped with some light bleeding. I have a few images here, taken last night.

And then here's a picture from just half an hour ago a day later:

I'm going to give him 2-3 baths everyday and put pure coconut oil on the areas before bed...

But-- I've never had a beardie before and I still feel like a total noob. Am i overreacting??? Is this just a normal shed that is taking a little while? I see his back leg is starting to change color too... And at what point do I say; It's time to see the vet???

Thank you ;;

I didn't see anything unusual in the pictures. Shedding does take a while. One of mine just shed on his back and it took maybe 2-3 weeks.

You didn't? Well he's got this really weird looking almost puncture wound on his hand and two long cuts, then a ripped scale on the inside of his finer =/ I try to examine his paw and he starts flinching it away rapidly like he's in pain ; Hissed at me once too.

I see the crack in the hand. It may just be shed related dry/cracking skin. You might try putting some plain aloe over the area to help moisturize it a bit and see if that helps it flex a bit and shed more easily. Once the area is shed, keep a close eye on it for signs of injury post shed.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
