Hi I'm sorry if this has been handled before but I didn't seem to find the answer I was looking for
Darwin has been shedding nearly nonstop for a month now. Each other part of her body has shed 3 times now, but her tail has only shed once. It's looked like it wants to shed for a while now, but has shown no signs of coming off. I've read about the cocoa butter, which I bought a stick of and rubbed over his back (which also needed to shed) and his tail last night. This evening after coming home from work, the skin on his back had exploded all over the tank but his tail still looks dingy and stubborn. I've also noticed that while the rest of his underside is white, his tail has some pretty dark stress marks. The tail is very flexible (Darwin uses it as a whip at times) throughout the entire length, so for now I'm dodging tail rot or retained shed.
This is his tail, which has been grey for about a month now. It has a small dent, for a lack of better words, near the very tip of it, I suspect from a cricket nip even though I was very careful about removing them after he was done eating.
This is his belly and tail. His belly is showing some stress marks, but that was because I woke him up and held him vertically for a minute, which he did not appreciate. But his tail's marks are constantly there, even when his belly is completely white.
My questions are:
Is this normal for a beardie going through a tough shed (to only have one part of his body with stress marks)?
Besides the cocoa butter and daily baths, is there anything else I can do? I have heard of the reptile shed aids, but don't want to spend $8 on it if it's not necessary or there are more natural means.
