Hey all! My darling Charlie is shedding her head and full back at the moment, and her habits are changing like she's not moving as much, not basking as much, and not eating as much. Is this normal? Granted I switched Charlie from Crickets to Dubias, and I hear those are much more nutritious for Charlie and might stunt her appetite a bit. Either way, getting a bit worried. Her stool was watery and loose yesterday, but normal today. Could it be just the stress from shedding that's making her act this way, along with her stool? She did have coccidia a couple months ago, and might have it back, but I think it might be more of the shedding process, maybe? Hopefully...

Anyway, these are Charlie's facts:

How old is your dragon? 4-5 months old
How long have you had your dragon? Two months
How long is your dragon? 12 inches
The weight of your dragon: 116g
What is the sex of your dragon? Female
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in? 40 breeder
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank? Construction paper
Do you use UVB lights? Yes
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb? Fluorescent tube
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)? Reptisun T8 10.0
How old is your UVB bulb? A month and a half
How close can your dragon get to the UVB? 4-6 inches away
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage? Is it a white or colored bulb? Yes, a white indoor/outdoor PAR30L flood light 75W and an ecosmart 100w incandescent bulb for cool side
What are the basking temps? 100-110F
What is the cool side temp? 80-85F
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun? An infrared digital thermometer
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps? On basking branch for basking side and on accessories on the cool side
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad? Neither
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific. Just switched from Medium crickets from petco to Roaches 1/2 inches, dusted with rep-cal calcium with vitamin d and phosphorus free every day and rep-cal herptivite 2-3 times a week. Mustard greens as last meal.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)? 3 times a day - 11am, 2pm, 6-8pm
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc? Yes, the crickets with fluorescent orange cube and mustard greens and dubia roaches with the grains that the supplier gives me plus flukers orange cube
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? Yes, rep-cal
How many days a week do you use each of them? Calcium- everyday -- vitamins-2 times a week
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)? Yes
Do you bath your dragon? How often? Yes, every two-three days
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath? Yes
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done? Yes
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon? No

I wouldn't be too concerned. Your enclosure sounds good. Shedding can certainly cause stress and odd behavior. They can be quite irritable and lose appetite during a shed but it usually goes back to normal quickly after the shed is done. Some shed cycles seem to be harder than others.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, her shed is really coming in. I'll give an update after the shed.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
