Strange discolouration on beardie! Yellow Fungus??

Hello all,

I've noticed some discolouration on Bowie's skin over the past week or so and i'm worried it's yellow fungus. He's a central leatherback, 7 months old and i've had him for around a month and a half - i'm really worried about him as he's also had foul runny stools for the past month. the discolouration is on his beard, a greeny yellow tinge, under his neck of the same colour, and on the top of his head of the same colour, it also looks as though scales are missing on his head? I'm very worried.

Husbandry info:

He eats really really well, up to 30 or 40 medium crickets a day, a good amount of collard green/squash/bell pepper/ salad every other day. He's always very alert and active, sleeps well, basks normally and is very comfortable with me.

- temps: cool end is usually around 80F, warm side 92F and basking spot 102F
- substrate is a repti-carpet
- lighting: repti-glo 10.0 coil with a reflective hood, 150W reptisun basking light with a reflective hood
- heating: 150W ceramic heating coil with reflective hood, 7W heating pad placed on warm side under the glass of the viv
- 40 exo-terra gallon viv with mesh top
- two hides on either side of the viv
- food is dusted with calcium powder every second day, and calcium powder with D3 once a week
- supplement is added to salads
- he's been shedding for the past 2 weeks
- he is bathed twice a week, once every day when he is in shed

He's about to shed his back, but I'm worried about the other discolouration. I've included some photos, please please help!

Hi Aleisha, that's just natural coloring . I raised a lot of high color beardies, including yellows and yoyrs just has a slight tinge of yellow there.


I'm curious about your heating though, do you use a 150 light that is the compact or is that the basking light, along WITH a 150 CHE ? If so, that's a lot of heat. BTW, a long tube uvb works much better, Reptisun 10.0 t5 or Arcadia D3 14 %.

Hi! Thanks so much for responding, that's such a relief I was super, super worried. So in regard to my heating, the basking bulb light is turned on during the day, and the ceramic coil at night - they're never turned on at the same time. I'm in rural NSW, Australia and it still gets a little chilly here at night, so it's just to keep his temp at a safe level! As for my UVB, I've got a tube on the way in the mail, they're hard to source locally - trying it out to see if it helps his loose stools. Thanks again!
