Stick sanitary

Ok so I want to get a nice branch for my bearded dragon but I want to know if it's sanitary to just grab one from outside.And if it is,how would you properly sanitize it,and what type of wood would be best.I want to do this because it's expensive to buy sticks don't know why

Wrap FALLEN TREE BRANCH or DRIFT WOOD or FLOOD DEBRIE in black h/duty plastic and place in the sunniest place in your back yard , let the sun do it's work for a weak, the hotter the days the better , this will kill any unwanted bugs , should be good to use then.

Only cost is the heavy duty black sheet of plastic / plastic tarp , the sun is free.

Just clean off any dirt on the surface with a rag, then pop it in a preheated 250 degree oven for 60-75 minutes. I get all my branches + logs from outside + sterilize them that way....don't use anything that is producing sap or fresh pine.

For logs that are too big for the oven I guess black bag technique might work, but wonder if it would kill bugs that had bored down in the wood.
