Starting Dubai colony

I want to start a colony of Dubai roaches for my first time. I don't really know what to do with the cages heating. I live in New York and it's cold in my house. Most days it's around 70 degrees. At night it could drop to 60. I'm on a budget. I have an available dome and one of those cr**py red night light heat bulbs. It's 60 watts. Is this good enough for breeding? Or do I need another/different heat source?

What I'm currently using is a $12 human heating pad from Amazon, set to low. The first day of use requires pretty frequent monitoring and some adjustment (my roaches are at the perfect temp with half of their tub sitting directly on the mat, but I had to get crafty with a hot glue gun and some cardboard to make little feet for my superworm bins so that they could sit slightly above it and not overheat), but after that it's pretty simple! I use an infrared temp gun to check my temps every other day when I put in fresh fruit/veggies for moisture, just to make sure nothing goes wrong, but so far it's been a very convenient and affordable solution for me. Much more so than reptile-specific undertank heaters that would probably get too hot, and cost a lot more for the same size. One of these mats heats the warm size of my roach tub and the warm sides of three separate bins for supers!

The dome fixture and bulb you mentioned will probably work in a pinch, with some monitoring and adjustment to make sure you're getting the right temperature range, but personally I'd move to something that doesn't put off light when you can. Roaches in particular really don't like to be exposed; they like the dark!

I use a heat projector from Megaray to heat my roach tank. A ceramic heat emitter would work too. Either will fit in your spare dome fixture as long as it's rated to handle the wattage of the light.

I leave it on all the time. Just double check the temps to ensure it's not getting too hot. I suspend the fixture above the tank a little bit. You just need enough to bump part of the tank (usually the housing) into the high 80s/low-mid 90s.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
