Starting a colony

Im thinking of starting a colony and am wondering if 50 females and 15 males is a good starting point? Or should I get a few more males? Ive never done this before and I want everything Ineed before I get the dubia, Im just trying to get my numbers right to start. Ive beed reading on here addictively and still cant remember the good ratio of males to females. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks, Korey :study:

I'm at about 4:1 now and my females that I just put in will bump it to 6.5:1 when they mature.

so maybe 15 is too many males. I should get 10 males to my 50 females to give a 5:1-f:m ratio. I know it is a small start but I dont wanna start to big and am on a tight budget,lol.

I started off with a low 1:2 ratio with no problems then as my colony grew I then began weeding out any extras until I now have a colony of 3,000+ and keep it at a 6:1 ratio. It all depends. I found that early on there was no problem, more room to roam before running into another male, now if I don't keep ontop of the 6:1 when I open the bin there are tons of males with chewed up wings. Here is a guide on dubia that can help you with some calculations for at least what amount of females you need to support your beardie and you can figure out males from there.
