Well my favorite thing to do (besides feed, cuddle, and generally harass him) is talking about Mr. Starkiller, so I decided it was high time to give him his own thread.
This was the poor babies house when I first got him. I had a (malfunctioning)heat pad under the left side, a heat rock on the right side, and NO idea what I was doing. (to be fair this was the setup he was surrendered to me in)
This is his house now, all 55gals of it. xP I am going to move him into a 40breeder soon as he is done shedding, though, as it seems foolish to have all that vertical space in an essentially one level enclosure.
Mr. Starkiller was a rescue from a friend of mine who had even less of a clue than I did. Star is around nine months old and is 6 1/2 inches. (most of the growth charts I have seen say he should be 80% of his adult size by now. D=) He had no UVB, a malfunctioning heat pad(My thermometer read the temp at 140*F!), and was fed infrequently(found out the little one once went over a MONTH with no food or water!) and improper foodstuffs.
Needless to say, the lil guy gets daily baths(was doing every other day, but so many people on here bathe babies every day that I figured they were probably on to something with that), Multiple feedings a day, and lots of cuddle time! He is still a little weary of me, but we are definitely making loads of progress!
The grand total of food the little one has gulped down since the 12th when I got him is:
17 calciworms, 18 crickets(all today  ), 11 waxworms, and 6 complete bowls of salad.
All he would eat at first was waxies, He decided he was not going to bother with crickets or salad AT ALL. I got the calciworms and he decided to wolf down two salads instead of eating the worms, then he decided he liked calciworms when hand fed, and is still on a salad kick. Then this morning, I decided to offer him crix again(was offering daily, but began giving calciworms instead) and he gulped nine down before I could even think 'oh hey, he is eating crix'. Silly dragon.
He is shedding now which is a good thing, ya? Means he is starting to grow?
He wasn't skinny when I first got him(god only knows how), but he is starting to get a little belly. I feel so sorry for him though. Shedding can't feel good. He is all dark with stress marks. poor baby. Anyway.
PICTURES:
Enjoying his new basking spot, look how small he is compared to the temp. probe. o-o
I woke him up, but that's where he slept the first few nights in his new tank.
Showing off his happy colors in what I assume was his first ever bath.
Our first blankie cuddle. :love5:
Showing off his pre shed.
I will continue to update this as he grows.
