"Standing water should never be left in a cage, dragons are sensitive to humidity and at the proper temps water burns off fast and raises the humidity of the tank to dangerous levels. It's also a drowning hazard because for some reason these guys like to doze in water. They should get all the water they need through frequent bathing."

Is this correct?

Oh. I've been leaving a water bowl in my dragon's enclosure constantly. He also hates having baths.

Does he get in or drink from the water bowl in his viv?

How do you give him baths....in a tub, sink or rubbermaid type container?

How old is your beardie?

I've never seen him drink from it. Every couple of days I'll dip my finger in it and drop some on his nose.

I give him baths in a rubbermaid container.

He's 9 months old.

If he's not actually drinking from it I would go ahead and remove it from his viv. Does he drink water dripped on his nose? If so, maybe you could just use a dropper to drop water on his nose daily to keep him hydrated.

The reason I was asking how you bathe, was in case maybe you were doing it in a tub or large container that was overwhelming him. Have you tried putting something in the container during bath time that he could sit/lay on? Like say a rock, where he can get in and out of the water as he pleases. Some beardies just don't take to the water too well. Some are intimidated by it.....maybe putting a rock or something to sit on would make him feel a little more comfortable and in control.

Hope this helps....Good luck!

He does drink a little when i drop water on his nose.
It may be the container he doesn't like. He never eats when I try to feed him in it. He just stays still and blackbeards, or tries to get out.
Nevertheless, I'll try the rock thing.
Thanks.

Water in a viv is fine as long as it doesn't cause the humidity to get to high. I'm not sure where the idea that dragons don't drink from water dishes comes from. I've seen nearly every one of my dragons drink from water dishes at one time or another. Even baby dragons will drink from standing water. The other thing is, if you water dish is large enough they will often sit in it when they are getting ready to shed.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
