Squash. How do you prepare it for your beardies?

We've recently given our beardies some baby food squash as I've seen it's on occasionally (the baby food that is). Now we've got a real squash and would like to know the best way to prepare it. So far today we've cut it and ran it over a cheese grader and they have eaten some of it. So the question is: What do you do to it prior to feeding and would it be more effective/healthy then what were doing?

I think feeding fresh is better. But, sometime, I try to stimulate their appetite, so I cook the grated squash by microwaving it to bring out the sweet nutty aroma. Mine seem to love... Well, they love it no matter what. [chuckle] :mrgreen: I've heard people's iguanas running toward them in the kitchen, like it was crack cocane, when they smell the butternut squash being boil. lol

Winter squash is really good because it has a lot of betacorotene which good for the healthy skin... If they have healthy skin, they usually have better sheds. Plus it has a lot of fiber and carbohydrate which they need. Carbohydrate gives them energy. Parsnips also has a lot of carb and fiber, and, high in protein, and a lot of other vitamins. Parsnip is quite possibly the most nutritious veggie there is, even better than dandelion greens. It also very low in calcium oxalate...much less than other leafy green veggies, even dandelions, and hard veggies..,.
