Currently we have our little 2 month old Lucha dragon in a 3ft x 1.5ft viv.
My dad's building a bigger one as this one is temp while a baby.

The unit I want him to convert to a viv will look better square. Plan is to have top layer as hot basking area with downstairs as cooler area. Obs will practise different places to place shelves and lighting ...... don't see why this won't work but you just don't see many square vivs they all seem to be more rectangle

Why is this ?? Oh the size of new one will be 27inches × 15 inches deep

Cheers in advance for your thoughts

If the upper basking storey is 1/2 the length , with a lower cool zone 27x27", that will give him (not including his ramp from ground floor to 1st floor) an effective space of 0.68m^2 which will be fine for when he's a full grown adult.
The total height will have to be more than 15". If you use an MVB you'll need about 15" or more for the distance from the top to 1st floor at least.

"Standard" foot print for adult beardie enclosures here in Australia is 1.2x0.6 m = 0.72m^2. Heights vary depending on heat source W , from 15" to 24".

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
