Spolied Beardie?

Not sure if this belongs in behavior, or feeding, but here goes. A few moths ago, Lannan decided he didn't like crickets anymore. Since then, I have been continuing with daily salads, BSFL, BS flies, dubia, supers, and other assorted "treat" worms.
As my dubia colony is dwindling, I decided to get a few crickets at the LPS. I thought he would devour them in his "cricket battle dome" (Sterilight tub) as he hasn't seen one in a while. Well...to my surprise, he didn't eat a one. I put him in the bin and he just sat there, making friends with his chirpy/hoppy buddies. :banghead:
Today, I got an idea. I took the dusted crickets out one by one, and fed them to him with tongs and fingers. He ate them one-cricket-at-a-time. It took a while, but little "Fauntle Roy" ate them all! We finished up with a bowl of BSFL for desert. What a BRAT!!!!! Just wanted to share this "new to me" behavior story with you all. Is this a common thing with beardies?

From everything I've read & experienced, I would say it's not un-common.

Dubias have been our staple from Day One (but also trying others--except crickets--for variety :) ).
The last time I put in an order for dubias (I generally order 1000 half-inch at a time), I added 500 lg. superworms to the order (after having tried a few from the LPS, BC). MIGHTY ZᴀRDᴏZ LOVED the supers--so much so that, while they're almost gone, I still have ~800 of the dubias left, and he's turning up his nose at them to the point of starving himself. Stupid stubborn dragon... :x

Last time I cleaned out the dubias, I did the same as you with a Sterilite® bin, figuring a smorgasbord of roaches might excite him enough to eat them again. No such luck--he just sat there looking around while they crawled all over him.

Hand-feeding the roaches to him isn't working either (except for one he ate yesterday); he backs away from them without regard for his personal safety--backing off his basing mountain.

Did you mean Fauntleroy, or is there an inside joke I'm not getting? :?

I would say that's normal. They definitely get their own preferences. And it seems like unless it's something they really like, they aren't willing to work (hunt) for it anymore lol.

Thanks for your responses. I enjoy reading through the site and learning all I can about our funny little lizards. Yes, Little Lord Fauntleroy is what I meant to say. We call my youngest son Fauntleroy, as he is almost as spoiled as the Beardie. Love the ballad to Teejus life. Listening to the song, it reminded me of my late grandfather and his quick wit.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
