I've had my beardie, Wicket, for almost two and half months. I'd guess he's anywhere between 4 to 5 months old? Maybe 6, but that would be the absolute oldest. He's between 11 and 12 inches from nose to tail tip, last time I measured.
Anyway, he's been refusing to eat. He's never eaten very much, but at least he was enthusiastic about it before. He was eating his normal reptiworms pretty well, but then my batch started turning to flies. I let him have a few of those because he loved chasing them around, but ever since he simply refuses to eat anything else. He completely ignores his fresh worms (I leave them in all day hoping he'll eat them, but they stay there for days until I just switch them out). I thought maybe he was bored with worms, so I got crickets. He'll eat the crickets every now and again, but, like, 5-10 small ones at most. He has dubia roaches, and he'll only eat two or three of those before he just sits there and watches them run around his cage. And I don't even wanna talk about the way he REFUSES to eat any greens.
I know sometimes beardies go through eating strikes, but I'm giving him so many options for protein, I don't understand why he would be! He's never been a hefty lizard (like I said, he's never eaten much), but at least he was plump before; I can tell he's starting to lose weight though and it's worrying me.
Is there anything I can try doing to make him eat? Should I take him to the vet? He still poops regularly, though they're small, and I catch him bopping around his cage all the time. My brother said he saw him drinking from his water bowl the other day. Darn lizard is always trying to get my anxiety started! I treat him like a king and he won't even eat his meals! I've spent so much money these last couple weeks getting him variety, but I can't afford to keep up the luxury, especially if he won't eat any of it.
My set up should be right, but I'll put it down anyway:
40 gallon breeder tank
Tile substrate
Reptisun 10.0 uvb bulb
100 watt basking bulb
Basking spot temp is around 102-107F depending on day
Cool side temp around 75-80F
I use a digital thermometer with probe to take temps
He has plenty of things to climb on and explore
He even has a hide with a nice lil blankie in it
If you need to know anything else just ask!
