sperm plugs

I have a bearded dragon and he passes sperm plugs sometimes, but i cant really find any info about them and wondered if anyone could answer a few questions i have about them.
Why do they pass sperm plugs?
What are sperm plugs(other than something they pass haha)
How often do they normally pass them or is it different for all beardies?

Hello,

Well, not all males pass sperm plugs, or ones that are really large. Others have issues with
passing them a lot. It varies depending on hormonal levels or hormonal buildup.
Sperm plugs are whitish/yellowish in color & depending on how they come out, will be soft
or hard. If they are stuck & don't work themselves out very quickly they will dry out & be
hard when passing them. Otherwise, a lot of them pass them through with a stool so they
will be soft.
I would say they primarily pass them during mating season when their hormones tend to be
higher. I am not a breeder, so, others will most likely chime in & give more insight than me!

Great! thank you i understand more now :lol: so he would probably pass them more around his "wife" , my friends bearded dragon? i went on a trip and my friend took care of him and he was headbobbing the whole time even when he wasnt around her :lol:
